شهدت الكرة الذهبية عبر تاريخها الطويل سيطرة واحتكاراً من لاعبين أسطوريين استطاعوا ترك بصمة خالدة في كرة القدم، وعلى رأسهم النجم الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي الذي يعتبر أكثر اللاعبين تتويجاً بالجائزة، ويليه البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو، إلى جانب أسماء تاريخية مثل كريم بنزيما، لوكا مودريتش، لويس سواريس، ريكاردو كاكا، أندريه شفتشينكو، فابيو كانافارو، رونالدينيو، زين الدين زيدان، يوهان كرويف، ميشيل بلاتيني، وماركو فان باستن، وغيرهم الذين شكلوا محطات فارقة في مسيرة الجائزة وجعلوا منها رمزاً للتميز الفردي في عالم الساحرة المستديرة، بينما في جانب اللاعبات حققت اللاعبة الإسبانية آيتانا بونماتي الكرة الذهبية للسيدات لعدة مرات متتالية، مما يعكس قوة كرة القدم النسائية وتطورها في السنوات الأخيرة.
وحول قصة الكرة الذهبية وكيفية حصولها وطريقة ترشيحها، يقول مدرب كرة القدم والمهتم بالتاريخ الرياضي سلمان عبدالستار لـ«عكاظ»: «بدأت قصة الكرة الذهبية عام 1956 عندما أطلقتها مجلة (فرانس فوتبول) الفرنسية لتكريم أفضل لاعب كرة قدم في أوروبا سنوياً، وكانت مقتصرة على اللاعبين الأوروبيين فقط، ولكن مع تطور الكرة وانتشار الاحتراف وسعت الجائزة معاييرها حتى شملت كل اللاعبين في العالم الذين يلعبون في البطولات الكبرى، ويتم الترشيح للجائزة على ثلاثة مستويات، هي: اختيار قائمة المرشحين الأولية من قبل خبراء تحرير المجلة، واختيار اللجنة النهائية التي تضم صحفيين من 100 دولة حول العالم، يقومون بالتصويت، والتصويت على أفضل خمسة لاعبين من القائمة الطويلة، إذ تمنح النقاط حسب ترتيب كل صحفي للأفضل، واللاعب الذي يحصل على أكبر عدد من النقاط في نهاية التصويت يفوز بالجائزة».
معايير أساسية
وعن سؤال: هل من المهم أن يكون اللاعب مشهوراً للحصول على الكرة الذهبية؟ أجاب: «ليس المهم أن يكون اللاعب مشهوراً، بل من الضروري أن يمتلك عدة معايير أساسية، هي: الأداء المبدع على مدار الموسم، ويشمل ذلك الأهداف، الأسيست، تأثيره في المباريات، إلى جانب إنجازات الفريق سواء على مستوى الأندية أو المنتخبات، واللعب النظيف والانضباط داخل وخارج الملعب، كما تشمل العملية تقييماً شاملاً للعناصر الفنية والسلوكية التي تجعل اللاعب يستحق لقب الأفضل في العالم».
وحول أحقية الجماهير الرياضية في التصويت على الكرة الذهبية، تابع المدرب عبدالستار بقوله: «الجمهور ليس له دور مباشر في التصويت أو منح الجائزة، لأن التصويت يتم عبر لجنة من الصحفيين الدوليين المتخصصين، كما أشرت، ولكن من الناحية غير الرسمية والمعنوية، فإن الدعم الجماهيري يمكن أن يرفع من معنويات اللاعب ويزيد من حضوره الإعلامي، ما قد يؤثر بشكل غير مباشر على تقييمه في أذهان مصوّتي الكرة الذهبية، فالتفاعل الجماهيري مع أداء اللاعب في المباريات يمكن أن يؤثر في رأي الصحفيين ويبرز أهمية اللاعب أكثر في المشهد الكروي العام».
واختتم المدرب عبدالستار حديثه بقوله: «الكرة الذهبية ليست مجرد جائزة، بل هي تتويج لسنوات من الجهد والصبر والإصرار، والفوز بها يعكس حالة ذهنية قوية لا تقاس بالأهداف فقط، بل برحلة اللاعب اليومية في العمل والتضحية، والمواجهة مع الضغوطات، وهذا ما يجعلها شرفاً معنوياً لا يقدر بثمن، وبذلك ستبقى الكرة الذهبية حلماً يراود كل لاعب، ورمزاً خالداً للأفضلية والتميز في تاريخ كرة القدم، منوهاً أن آخر فائز بجائزة الكرة الذهبية للرجال حتى عام 2025 هو الفرنسي عثمان ديمبلي، بعد موسم استثنائي ساهم فيه بشكل كبير مع نادي باريس سان جيرمان بالتتويج بدوري أبطال أوروبا، بينما في جانب السيدات حصلت الإسبانية أيتانا بونماتي على الكرة الذهبية، وهو اللقب الثالث على التوالي للاعبة برشلونة لتصبح اللاعبة الأكثر تتويجاً بالألقاب في التاريخ».

Meanwhile, on the women’s side, Spanish player Aitana Bonmati has won the women’s Ballon d’Or several times in a row, reflecting the strength and development of women’s football in recent years.
Regarding the story of the Ballon d’Or, how it is awarded, and the nomination process, football coach and sports history enthusiast Salman Abdulsttar told “Okaz”: “The story of the Ballon d’Or began in 1956 when it was launched by the French magazine (France Football) to honor the best football player in Europe annually. It was initially limited to European players only, but with the evolution of football and the spread of professionalism, the award expanded its criteria to include all players in the world who play in major tournaments. The nomination for the award occurs at three levels: the selection of the preliminary list of nominees by the magazine’s editorial experts, the choice of the final committee that includes journalists from 100 countries around the world who vote, and the voting on the best five players from the long list, where points are awarded based on each journalist’s ranking of the best. The player who receives the highest number of points at the end of the voting wins the award.”
Basic Criteria
When asked: Is it important for a player to be famous to win the Ballon d’Or? He replied: “It is not important for a player to be famous; rather, it is essential to possess several basic criteria, which are: creative performance throughout the season, including goals, assists, impact in matches, as well as team achievements at both club and national levels, fair play, and discipline both on and off the field. The process also includes a comprehensive assessment of the technical and behavioral elements that make a player deserving of the title of the best in the world.”
Regarding the right of sports fans to vote for the Ballon d’Or, Coach Abdulsttar continued: “The public does not have a direct role in voting or awarding the prize, as the voting is conducted by a committee of specialized international journalists, as I mentioned. However, from an unofficial and moral standpoint, public support can boost a player’s morale and increase their media presence, which may indirectly affect their evaluation in the minds of the Ballon d’Or voters. The public’s interaction with a player’s performance in matches can influence journalists’ opinions and highlight the player’s importance in the overall football scene.”
Coach Abdulsttar concluded his remarks by saying: “The Ballon d’Or is not just an award; it is a culmination of years of effort, patience, and determination. Winning it reflects a strong mental state that cannot be measured solely by goals but by the player’s daily journey of work and sacrifice, and facing pressures. This makes it a moral honor that is priceless. Thus, the Ballon d’Or will remain a dream for every player and a timeless symbol of excellence and distinction in the history of football, noting that the last winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or until 2025 is Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, after an exceptional season in which he significantly contributed to Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the UEFA Champions League, while on the women’s side, Spanish Aitana Bonmati won the Ballon d’Or, marking her third consecutive title, making her the most decorated player in history.”
