•• قبل أيام، دار حديث رشيق مع صديق قديم كان على وظيفة رفيعة.. في شكواه المبثوثة يقول: «الأيام الفيروزية تبخرت الآن في ظلمة النكران».. عندما كان حبيباً للكل؛ لم تمر مناسبة إلا ويدعى إليها، أما الآن فحالة صمت مخيفة تعشعش على هاتفه.. وبهدوئه المعتاد أسر إليَّ ضاحكاً ممازحاً: «بطارية هاتفي (أكهربها) كل أربعة أيام، بعكس السابق حين كنت أملأها عدة مرات يومياً».
•• حين تتسلل إلينا صحبة غبية تستذكي علينا فتطاردنا إن كانت لها منفعة؛ تتصدّع جماجمنا منها لما نحال للتقاعد.. هؤلاء كائنات تكره الوفاء، فلا نجعلهم يستصغرون مقامنا ويقتلون حياتنا.. وخطؤنا أننا لم نعرف كيف نصطاد الأصدقاء الأوفياء، مثل من يدري أنه أمام البحر ولا يعرف أين سمكته.. نكون حيارى طائشين في الانتقاء لا نعرف كيفية اختيار الصحبة، فنضطر لمشاكسة مجرى الريح.
•• وعندما يكون بين أيدي أصدقاء يعرفون قيمتنا ومكانتنا؛ تتروض أنفسنا وتمتلئ أرواحنا بالبهجات المتلاحقة والمسرات المتزايدة.. فما يدعو للتفاخر ويجب نشره على الملأ؛ أن يكون لنا صديق يجالسنا رصيف الأمنيات فنتقاسم معه أجندة أيامنا.. صديق نعانقه يومياً فيستعمر قلوبنا ويستوطن أرواحنا.. أما ما يدعو للخزي وكتمه عن الناس؛ هو إفساد أذواقنا وذائقتنا من صداقة أناس هايفين بامتياز ضالعين في التفاهة.
•• وفاء الأصدقاء منحة حياتيه، تعيِّشنا حياة هادئة تليق بنا وبهم.. فمن حظي بأناس ذوي مصداقية حية ممتعة؛ فسيقضي حياته قبل التقاعد وبعده مستمتعاً بجمال الدنيا وضيائها.. ومن عاش مستهلاً حياته بين أصدقاء محبين؛ فسيعيش تمامها في دنيا مريحة سعيدة.. ومن جاءه شتاء خادع يحوَّل أزهار صداقته إلى ذبول؛ فسوف تنقلب حياة الشخص المختول المغشوش إلى سلسلة يومية من الخراب النفسي.
•• A few days ago, I had a lively conversation with an old friend who held a high position. In his scattered complaints, he said: “The turquoise days have now evaporated in the darkness of denial.” When he was loved by everyone; there wasn’t an occasion that he wasn’t invited to, but now there’s a frightening silence that nests on his phone. With his usual calmness, he whispered to me, laughing playfully: “My phone battery gets charged every four days, unlike before when I used to charge it several times a day.”
•• When a foolish company sneaks up on us, trying to outsmart us and chasing us if they have any benefit; our heads crack from them when we are pushed to retirement. These are beings that hate loyalty, so we shouldn’t let them belittle our status and kill our lives. Our mistake is that we don’t know how to catch loyal friends, like someone who knows he is in front of the sea but doesn’t know where his fish is. We find ourselves confused and reckless in our selection, not knowing how to choose our companions, forcing us to clash with the flow of the wind.
•• And when we are among friends who know our value and status; our souls become tamed, and our spirits fill with successive joys and increasing delights. What calls for pride and should be shared publicly is having a friend who sits with us on the sidewalk of wishes, sharing with us the agenda of our days. A friend we embrace daily, who occupies our hearts and settles in our souls. As for what brings shame and should be kept from people; it is the corruption of our tastes and preferences from the friendship of utterly trivial people engrossed in nonsense.
•• The loyalty of friends is a life gift, allowing us to live a calm life that befits us and them. Whoever is fortunate to have people with genuine, enjoyable credibility will spend his life, before and after retirement, enjoying the beauty and light of the world. And whoever starts his life among loving friends will live all of it in a comfortable, happy world. But whoever faces a deceptive winter that turns the flowers of his friendship into withering; his life will turn into a daily series of psychological ruin.
