أُسندت حقيبة الدفاع في مصر إلى الفريق أشرف سالم زاهر، ليشغل منصب القائد العام للقوات المسلحة ووزير الدفاع والإنتاج الحربي، في خطوة تعكس الاعتماد على قيادات تمتلك خبرة ميدانية وأكاديمية متراكمة داخل المؤسسة العسكرية.
مسيرة عسكرية ممتدة في «الدفاع الجوي»
ينتمي الوزير الجديد المولود في 1968/8/18،إلى سلاح الدفاع الجوي، إذ تخرج في كلية الدفاع الجوي في الأول من يوليو 1989، ليبدأ مسيرة مهنية تدرّج خلالها في مختلف المناصب القيادية حتى بلغ رتبة فريق.
وخلال مسيرته، تولى قيادة دفاع جوي المنطقة الغربية العسكرية، قبل أن يُعيَّن مديراً للكلية الحربية، ثم مديراً للأكاديمية العسكرية المصرية، في محطات تعكس حضوره في مواقع التأهيل وصناعة القيادات.
تأهيل عسكري وأكاديمي
يحمل الفريق أشرف سالم زاهر بكالوريوس العلوم العسكرية، واجتاز دورة القادة، ونال زمالة كلية الدفاع الوطني.
كما عزز مسيرته بتأهيل مدني لافت، إذ حصل على بكالوريوس الهندسة الكهربية (شعبة الاتصالات والكهروفيزياء)، إلى جانب ماجستير في الاستراتيجية القومية، ما يجمع بين التخصص التقني والرؤية الاستراتيجية.

The defense portfolio in Egypt has been assigned to Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zahir, who will serve as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, in a move that reflects reliance on leaders with accumulated field and academic experience within the military institution.
Extended Military Career in “Air Defense”
The new minister, born on August 18, 1968, belongs to the Air Defense Forces, having graduated from the Air Defense College on July 1, 1989, to begin a professional journey in which he progressed through various leadership positions until he reached the rank of Lieutenant General.
During his career, he held the position of Commander of the Western Military Air Defense, before being appointed as the Director of the Military Academy, and then as the Director of the Egyptian Military Academy, in stages that reflect his presence in training and leadership development roles.
Military and Academic Qualification
Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zahir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Military Sciences, has completed a Command Course, and obtained a fellowship from the National Defense College.
He also enhanced his career with notable civilian qualifications, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Communications and Electrophysics), in addition to a Master’s degree in National Strategy, which combines technical specialization with strategic vision.
