في واقعة أشبه بأفلام الإثارة الهوليوودية، تحولت رحلة اعتيادية لشركة «توي» (TUI) الجوية، قادمة من صخب «كانكون» المكسيكية إلى مطار «لندن غاتويك»، إلى حالة استنفار قصوى بعد اكتشاف راكب سري غير مرغوب فيه: ثعبان يُشتبه في أنه سام، استوطن مقصورة القيادة أو الركاب لطائرة من طراز بوينغ 787-9 دريملاينر.
بدأت فصول الإثارة عقب هبوط الطائرة التي كانت تقل على متنها نحو 345 راكبًا؛ حيث لمح أحد عمال النظافة جسداً زاحفاً بلون بني محمر يتسلل بين المقاعد. ورغم تمكن العامل من التقاط صورة سريعة للزاحف الغامض، إلا أن الثعبان كان أسرع، إذ اختفى في لمح البصر غائصاً في التجاعيد والهياكل الداخلية للطائرة.
هذا الاختفاء المفاجئ تسبب في حالة من الذعر والوجوم بين طواقم التنظيف والمناولة الأرضية، ما أجبر الشركة على سحب الطائرة بالكامل من الخدمة. وعلى مدار أيام متواصلة، تحولت الطائرة المتقدمة تكنولوجياً إلى ساحة تفتيش معقدة؛ حيث استعانت الشركة بفرق الصيانة، والمهندسين، وخبراء الحياة البرية الذين يقلبون الطائرة رأساً على عقب دون جدوى حتى الآن، وسط مخاوف حقيقية من أن يؤدي وجوده إلى قضم الأسلاك الحساسة أو تخريب الأنظمة الإلكترونية للمركبة.

In an incident reminiscent of Hollywood thrillers, a routine flight by TUI Airways, coming from the hustle and bustle of Cancun, Mexico, to London Gatwick Airport, turned into a state of maximum alert after the discovery of an unwanted stowaway: a snake suspected to be venomous, which had taken up residence in the cockpit or passenger cabin of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The excitement began after the plane, carrying around 345 passengers, landed; a cleaning staff member spotted a crawling body of reddish-brown color sneaking between the seats. Although the worker managed to take a quick photo of the mysterious crawler, the snake was quicker, disappearing in the blink of an eye, sinking into the wrinkles and internal structures of the aircraft.
This sudden disappearance caused panic and bewilderment among the cleaning and ground handling crews, forcing the company to withdraw the aircraft completely from service. Over several consecutive days, the technologically advanced plane turned into a complex inspection site; the company enlisted maintenance teams, engineers, and wildlife experts who turned the aircraft upside down without success so far, amid real fears that its presence could chew through sensitive wires or damage the vehicle’s electronic systems.

A source from the aviation sector described the ongoing chase as “like searching for a needle in a haystack,” confirming that the aircraft will not fly again and will not receive approval from international civil aviation until the “little fugitive” is found and the safety of upcoming flights is guaranteed at 100%.
