أعلن الاتحاد الإيفواري لكرة القدم، أن مهاجم المنتخب إيلي واهي الذي يخضع للتحقيق لاتهامه بالتلاعب في نتائج المباريات، لم يسمح له بالسفر إلى كندا للمشاركة في مباراة ألمانيا ضمن منافسات كأس العالم في تورنتو.
وقال الاتحاد في بيان رسمي: إن واهي لم يتمكن من السفر مع بعثة الفريق لعدم الحصول على الموافقات الإدارية اللازمة لدخوله الأراضي الكندية في هذه المرحلة.
وأعلنت رابطة الدوري الفرنسي لكرة القدم، وجود عدد غير معتاد من الرهانات على مستوى العالم على حصول واهي على إنذار خلال مباراة مع فريقه نيس في الدوري الفرنسي خلال مايو الماضي.
وتلقت الرابطة بلاغاً من شركاء يراقبون أسواق المراهنات حول نشاط مشبوه دولياً يتعلق بمباراة نيس ضد ميتز التي أقيمت يوم 17 مايو، وانتهت بالتعادل السلبي، وشهدت حصول واهي على إنذار بالفعل.
وأكدت الرابطة الفرنسية أنها أبلغت الشرطة وهيئات تنظيم المراهنات المختصة، بالإضافة إلى الاتحاد الفرنسي لكرة القدم بهذه المعلومات.
وقال مكتب المدعي العام في مارسيليا لوكالة أنباء أسوشيتد برس (أ ب) «تم القبض في 29 مايو على لاعب محترف في دوري الدرجة الأولى الفرنسي يبلغ من العمر 23 عاماً للتحقيق معه»، رداً على سؤال حول حقيقة التحقيق مع اللاعب من جانب الشرطة.
وأعلن الاتحاد الإيفواري لكرة القدم أنه لم يتم إبلاغه رسمياً بأي إجراءات قضائية أو إدارية تتعلق باللاعب.
وأضاف بيان الاتحاد الإيفواري: ندعم واهي خلال هذه الفترة الحساسة، ونؤكد على ثقتنا به، وسيبقى ركيزة مهمة في صفوف المنتخب.
The Ivorian Football Federation announced that the national team striker, Eli Wahi, who is under investigation for allegedly manipulating match results, has not been allowed to travel to Canada to participate in the match against Germany in the World Cup in Toronto.
The federation stated in an official statement that Wahi was unable to travel with the team delegation due to not obtaining the necessary administrative approvals to enter Canadian territory at this stage.
The French Football League announced an unusual number of bets worldwide on Wahi receiving a yellow card during a match with his team Nice in Ligue 1 last May.
The league received a report from partners monitoring betting markets regarding suspicious international activity related to the match between Nice and Metz, which took place on May 17 and ended in a goalless draw, during which Wahi indeed received a yellow card.
The French league confirmed that it had informed the police and the relevant betting regulatory bodies, as well as the French Football Federation, of this information.
The Marseille public prosecutor’s office told the Associated Press (AP) that “a 23-year-old professional player in Ligue 1 was arrested on May 29 for questioning,” in response to a question about the investigation into the player by the police.
The Ivorian Football Federation announced that it had not been officially informed of any legal or administrative actions concerning the player.
The Ivorian federation’s statement added: “We support Wahi during this sensitive period and reaffirm our confidence in him; he will remain an important pillar of the national team.”
