Members of the European Parliament affirmed their solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their support for the legitimate Yemeni government, reiterating their commitment to the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of both countries.
This came in a resolution adopted by the members of Parliament today (Thursday), in which they strongly condemned the missile attacks and drone strikes launched by the Houthis against the Kingdom, as well as the military escalation within Yemen, describing these attacks as flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The resolution noted that the attacks resulted in the deaths and displacement of large numbers of Yemeni civilians and contributed to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the country, calling on the Council of the European Union to include the Houthi group, along with its political and military wings, its leadership, and its military and security apparatuses, on the EU’s list of terrorist organizations, and to demand the dismantling of its funding channels and the freezing of its funds, economic resources, and assets of entities that facilitate its activities.
Members of Parliament demanded that the Houthis immediately cease all hostilities, both inside and outside Yemen, and abandon any ambitions to control territory.
The resolution strongly condemned the attacks on the Kingdom targeting energy infrastructure and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
It called for enhancing cooperation between the European Union and its partners in the Gulf in the fields of security and defense.
