The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Hussein, confirmed that the Commercial Transactions System, which was approved by the Council of Ministers, is a comprehensive legislative framework that organizes for the first time in a single document the provisions of commercial sales, supply sales, commercial agency, and commercial mediation.
Al-Hussein explained that the system includes a package of legislative updates aimed at developing the commercial environment and enhancing its reliability, noting that one of the most prominent features is allowing those who have reached the age of fifteen to engage in commercial activities with the permission of their guardian or custodian, or by a court decision.
He added that the system has strengthened the protection of legitimate competition among traders by granting the affected party the right to resort to the competent court to request the cessation of harm and to claim compensation, which contributes to establishing justice and preserving rights within the market.
He pointed out that the system also includes organizing accounting records and mechanisms for their preservation, while exempting certain categories of traders from the obligation to retain them according to the provisions set forth in the system.
Al-Hussein indicated that the system will come into effect 180 days from the date of its publication in the official gazette, replacing three existing systems: the Commercial System, the Commercial Papers System, and the Commercial Books System.
