In a striking astronomical scene, the sky over the city of Arar in the Northern Borders region witnessed, early this morning, the phenomenon of the moon’s conjunction with the planet Jupiter, during which the two celestial bodies appeared close together, amidst a phenomenon that could be observed from wide areas around the world.
Astronomical Phenomena
Adnan Khalifa, a member of the Astronomy and Space Club, explained that the conjunction of the moon with Jupiter is one of the most prominent astronomical phenomena that attracts the attention of observation and photography enthusiasts, noting that Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and is distinguished by its clear brightness in the sky, making it one of the celestial bodies that can be easily recognized with the naked eye.
He pointed out that a conjunction occurs when two celestial bodies appear close together in the sky from the observer’s perspective on Earth, without meaning that they are actually close in space, emphasizing that this phenomenon provides an opportunity to follow the movement of the moon and planets and to learn about their astronomical characteristics.
Suitable Locations
He indicated that the open desert areas in the Northern Borders region provide suitable locations for astronomical observation, especially when the atmosphere is clear and away from sources of light pollution, which helps in tracking and documenting celestial phenomena through photography.
He affirmed that such phenomena contribute to spreading astronomical culture and enhancing interest in space sciences, encouraging students, youth, and astronomy enthusiasts to engage in observation and learn about the movement of celestial bodies, thereby enhancing scientific awareness of the beauty of the universe and the precision of its system.
