أكد لـ«عكاظ» النجم الدولي السابق الكابتن سعيد العويران أنه دائماً حاضر في كأس العالم رغم عدم تلقيه دعوة من «الفيفا» لحضور مباريات مونديال 2026 من خلال الهدف التاريخي الذي سجله في مرمى منتخب بلجيكا وأسهم في التأهل لدور ثمن النهائي بكأس العالم 1994، وبدعم قيادتنا الرشيدة والمسؤولين على الرياضة وبمساندة الإعلام السعودي، والجماهير الرياضية.
وأشار العويران إلى أن مواجهة المنتخب السعودي أمام إسبانيا لن تكون سهلة، في ظل العناصر التي يمتلكها المنتخب الإسباني، ويعتبر من المنتخبات القوية والمرشحة للمنافسة على تحقيق كأس العالم 2026، متمنياً من مدرب المنتخب السعودي دونيس اللعب بأسلوب فني متوازن، والاعتماد على الهجمات المرتدة، من أجل الوصول لمرمى منتخب إسبانيا، وتحقيق نتيجة تساهم في مواصلة الأخضر مشواره في المونديال الحالي.
وطالب العويران بالوقوف مع لاعبي المنتخب السعودي، وعدم تركيز النقد فقط على قائد الأخضر سالم الدوسري، الذي لم يظهر بمستواه الفني وليس وحده بل معه لاعبون آخرون لم يكونوا حاضرين بالشكل الفني في مواجهة منتخب الأوروغواي، باستثناء الحارس محمد العويس، والمدافع عبدالإله العمري، اللذين كانا في قمة مستواهما الفني.
ووجه رسالة للاعبي الأخضر قائلاً: «لا بد من نسيان مباراة الأوروغواي الماضية، خصوصاً المستوى الفني السيئ في الشوط الثاني، والسعي لتقديم مستوى فني أفضل أمام منتخب إسبانيا، وتبقى ثقتنا كبيرة في نجوم الأخضر بتشريف الكرة السعودية في كأس العالم الحالية».
واختتم العويران حديثه بقوله: «المنتخب السعودي مطالب بالظهور المشرف في مونديال 2026، والهدف الأهم والقادم كأس أمم آسيا 2027 في السعودية، التي نطمح من خلالها إلى تحقيق المنتخب السعودي اللقب الآسيوي، بمشيئة الله».

Al-Owairan indicated that the Saudi national team’s match against Spain will not be easy, given the elements that the Spanish team possesses, which is considered one of the strong teams and a contender for the 2026 World Cup title. He hopes that the Saudi national team coach, Donis, will adopt a balanced technical style and rely on counter-attacks to reach the Spanish national team’s goal and achieve a result that helps the Green continue its journey in the current World Cup.
Al-Owairan called for support for the Saudi national team players and not to focus criticism solely on the Green’s captain, Salem Al-Dawsari, who has not shown his technical level, and he is not alone; there are other players who were also not present at their technical best in the match against the Uruguay national team, except for goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais and defender Abdulilah Al-Amri, who were at the peak of their technical level.
He sent a message to the Green players, saying: “It is essential to forget the last match against Uruguay, especially the poor technical level in the second half, and strive to present a better technical performance against the Spanish national team. Our confidence remains high in the stars of the Green to honor Saudi football in the current World Cup.”
Al-Owairan concluded his remarks by saying: “The Saudi national team is required to present a commendable performance in the 2026 World Cup, and the most important upcoming goal is the AFC Asian Cup 2027 in Saudi Arabia, through which we aspire for the Saudi national team to achieve the Asian title, God willing.”
