The Ansar team began its journey in the third division league with a valuable victory over its guest Al-Ghazwah, winning 2-1 in the first round of the competition. The two goals for Ansar were scored by Mohammed Al-Mutairi in the first and 38th minutes, in a match that witnessed two red cards, the first for Ansar player Mohammed Al-Shanqeeti and the second for Abdullah Al-Nakhli, a player from Al-Ghazwah.
With this victory, Ansar temporarily rose to second place in Group Four before the end of the round’s matches. Meanwhile, Ahad stumbled at home, losing to its guest Al-Qurayyah by two goals to nil, placing them at the bottom of the group temporarily.
The fans in Medina hope for both teams to regain their former glory and promote to the second division next season, after a significant decline in recent years. Ansar was relegated to the second division in 2020 and then to the third division in 2025, while Ahad dropped from the Premier League to the third division over seven years, after being relegated to the first division in 2019, then to the second division in 2025, and finally to the third division this year, 2026, after just one season in the second division.
