مع اقتراب كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2026 بأقل من أسبوعين، أعلنت شركات الطيران المكسيكية، الجمعة، إجراءات مشددة على المسافرين القادمين من عدد من الدول الإفريقية المتأثرة بتفشي فايروس إيبولا، في خطوة احترازية بالتنسيق مع الولايات المتحدة وكندا.
وقالت شركة «أيرومكسيكو»، أكبر ناقل جوي في المكسيك، إن أي مسافر زار أوغندا أو جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية أو جنوب السودان خلال الثلاثة أسابيع الماضية لن يُسمح له بدخول البلاد جوا. وقررت شركتا «فيفا أيروبوس» و«فولاريس» منخفضتا التكلفة تطبيق نفس الإجراءات على رحلاتهما الدولية، على أن تستمر القيود لمدة 60 يومًا، تغطي كامل منافسات البطولة المشتركة بين المكسيك والولايات المتحدة وكندا.
وفي تصريح رسمي، أكدت الرئيسة المكسيكية كلاوديا شينباوم بدء السلطات الصحية في تطبيق «بروتوكولات للمراقبة الوبائية» للحد من أي مخاطر صحية محتملة خلال الحدث الرياضي العالمي.
ويأتي هذا في ظل استعداد المنتخب الكونغولي، المتأهل إلى نهائيات كأس العالم، لدخول البطولة، حيث سيخضع لعزل صحي لمدة 21 يومًا داخل «فقاعة» خاصة إذا أراد السفر إلى الولايات المتحدة، وفق ما أعلن البيت الأبيض الأسبوع الماضي. ومن المقرر أن يبدأ المنتخب الكونغولي معسكره التدريبي في هيوستن بولاية تكساس، قبل مواجهاته المرتقبة ضد البرتغال وكولومبيا وأوزبكستان في يونيو الجاري.
في الوقت نفسه، أصدرت منظمة الصحة العالمية تحذيرًا صحيًا دوليًا بعد الإعلان عن تفشي فايروس إيبولا للمرة السابعة عشرة في شرق جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية. وتشير آخر الإحصاءات إلى تسجيل أكثر من ألف حالة مشتبه بها، بينها 246 وفاة، بينما تم الإعلان عن أول حالة شفاء مؤكدة منذ بداية موجة التفشي الحالية.
ويظل تفشي الفايروس مصدر قلق دولي، خصوصًا مع اقتراب حدث عالمي يجمع عشرات آلاف المشجعين من جميع أنحاء العالم، ما دفع السلطات لاتخاذ تدابير استثنائية لضمان سلامة الجمهور واللاعبين على حد سواء.

Aeromexico, the largest airline in Mexico, stated that any traveler who has visited Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or South Sudan in the past three weeks will not be allowed to enter the country by air. Low-cost airlines Viva Aerobus and Volaris have decided to implement the same measures on their international flights, with the restrictions set to last for 60 days, covering the entire duration of the tournament jointly hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
In an official statement, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that health authorities have begun implementing “epidemiological surveillance protocols” to mitigate any potential health risks during the global sporting event.
This comes as the Congolese national team, which has qualified for the World Cup, prepares to enter the tournament, as they will undergo a 21-day health quarantine in a special “bubble” if they wish to travel to the United States, as announced by the White House last week. The Congolese team is scheduled to begin their training camp in Houston, Texas, ahead of their anticipated matches against Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan this June.
At the same time, the World Health Organization issued an international health alert following the announcement of the Ebola virus outbreak for the seventeenth time in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The latest statistics indicate over a thousand suspected cases, including 246 deaths, while the first confirmed recovery has been announced since the beginning of the current outbreak wave.
The outbreak of the virus remains a global concern, especially with the upcoming global event that will gather tens of thousands of fans from around the world, prompting authorities to take exceptional measures to ensure the safety of both the public and the players.
