انطلقت في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، اليوم (الخميس)، جلسة المفاوضات الثالثة بين إسرائيل ولبنان، برعاية من الحكومة الأمريكية.
وذكرت وسائل إعلام أمريكية أن المفاوضات انطلقت بعد وصول وفد التفاوض اللبناني الذي تقوده السفيرة لدى واشنطن ندى حمادة معوض، والسفير السابق المبعوث الخاص سيمون كرم، وكذلك وفد التفاوض الإسرائيلي الذي يقوده السفير في واشنطن يحيئيل ليتر، ونائب مستشار الأمن القومي يوسي درازنين، إلى مقر وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية.
ومن المقرر أن تستمر جلسات المفاوضات بين لبنان وإسرائيل ليومين يتم خلالها بحث وقف إطلاق النار، ونزح سلاح حزب الله، وانسحاب إسرائيل من الأراضي اللبنانية.
بدورها، قالت الرئاسة اللبنانية إن الرئيس جوزيف عون ورئيس الوزراء نواف سلام بحثا المفاوضات في واشنطن في ضوء التوجيهات المعطاة للوفد اللبناني، مؤكدة أن الرئيس عون استقبل رئيس الوزراء بقصر بعبدا واتفقا على مواكبة المفاوضات من خلال التواصل الدائم، كما اتفقا على عقد جلسة لمجلس الوزراء الأسبوع القادم.
وأطلع رئيس الوزراء نواف سلام الرئيس عون على نتائج زيارته الأخيرة إلى سورية والمحادثات التي أجراها مع الرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع، إضافة إلى اللقاءات التي عقدها الوزراء اللبنانيون مع نظرائهم السوريين.
وأكد سلام أن الأجواء كانت إيجابية، وتم الاتفاق على تعزيز التعاون بين البلدين في مختلف المجالات، على أن يواصل الوزراء من الجانبين التواصل لمتابعة تنفيذ المواضيع التي جرى البحث فيها.
The third round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, under the auspices of the U.S. government, began today (Thursday) in the American capital, Washington.
American media reported that the negotiations commenced following the arrival of the Lebanese negotiating delegation led by Ambassador to Washington Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, and former special envoy Simon Karam, as well as the Israeli negotiating delegation led by Ambassador in Washington Yahiya Leiter and Deputy National Security Advisor Yossi Draznin, to the U.S. Department of State.
The negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are scheduled to last for two days, during which a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Hezbollah’s weapons, and Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory will be discussed.
For its part, the Lebanese presidency stated that President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam discussed the negotiations in Washington in light of the directives given to the Lebanese delegation, confirming that President Aoun received the Prime Minister at the Baabda Palace and they agreed to monitor the negotiations through constant communication, as well as agreeing to hold a Cabinet session next week.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam briefed President Aoun on the results of his recent visit to Syria and the discussions he had with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, in addition to the meetings held by Lebanese ministers with their Syrian counterparts.
Salam confirmed that the atmosphere was positive, and an agreement was reached to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, with ministers from both sides continuing to communicate to follow up on the implementation of the topics discussed.
