في ظل التحولات التي تشهدها المنطقة عقب إعلان مذكرة التفاهم بين أمريكا وإيران، وما رافقها من حديث عن وقف الأعمال العسكرية والتصعيد على مختلف الجبهات، أكد الرئيس اللبناني العماد جوزيف عون أن لبنان يتطلع إلى أن تشكل هذه التفاهمات مدخلاً حقيقياً لإنهاء دوامة العنف وإرساء مرحلة جديدة من الاستقرار والأمن والتعافي.
وقال عون في بيان اليوم الإثنين: تابعت باهتمام إعلان مذكرة التفاهم التي تم التوصل إليها بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، وما تضمنه من تأكيد على وقف الأعمال العسكرية والتصعيد في المنطقة، بما يشمل لبنان. وثمّن ما تضمنته المذكرة من احترام للخصوصية اللبنانية وإلاقرار بأن استقرار لبنان وأمنه يشكلان جزءاً لا يتجزأ من أي مسعى جدي لترسيخ الاستقرار في المنطقة، بعد ما تحمّله اللبنانيون من تضحيات وأعباء جسيمة خلال المرحلة الماضية.
وأضاف عون أن الشعب اللبناني يتطلع اليوم إلى أن تتحول هذه التفاهمات إلى خطوات عملية تضع حداً نهائياً لدوامة العنف، وتؤسس لمرحلة من الاستقرار والأمن والتعافي وإعادة الإعمار.
وتوجه بالشكر إلى جميع الدول والجهات التي ساهمت في إنجاز هذه المذكرة، وإلى كل من عمل على تضمين لبنان في الجهود الرامية إلى إنهاء التصعيد ووقف الأعمال العسكرية على مختلف الجبهات، انطلاقاً من إدراكهم لحجم المعاناة التي تحملها اللبنانيون خلال الأشهر الماضية.
وأعرب الرئيس اللبناني عن أمله أن يشكل هذا التطور بداية مسار أوسع يعزز الاستقرار في المنطقة ويحفظ سيادة الدول وحقوق شعوبها، ويتيح للبنانيين التفرغ لإعادة بناء ما تهدم واستعادة حياتهم الطبيعية في ظل دولة آمنة ومستقرة.
In light of the transformations taking place in the region following the announcement of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, and the accompanying discussions about halting military operations and de-escalation on various fronts, Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun affirmed that Lebanon looks forward to these agreements serving as a genuine entry point to end the cycle of violence and establish a new phase of stability, security, and recovery.
Aoun stated in a statement today, Monday: “I have followed with interest the announcement of the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, which included a commitment to halt military operations and de-escalation in the region, including Lebanon. He appreciated the memorandum’s acknowledgment of Lebanese privacy and the recognition that Lebanon’s stability and security are an integral part of any serious effort to establish stability in the region, after the sacrifices and heavy burdens borne by the Lebanese during the past period.
Aoun added that the Lebanese people today look forward to these agreements transforming into practical steps that put a definitive end to the cycle of violence and lay the groundwork for a phase of stability, security, recovery, and reconstruction.
He expressed his gratitude to all countries and parties that contributed to the achievement of this memorandum, and to everyone who worked to include Lebanon in the efforts aimed at ending the escalation and halting military operations on various fronts, stemming from their understanding of the extent of the suffering endured by the Lebanese in recent months.
The Lebanese president expressed hope that this development would mark the beginning of a broader path that enhances stability in the region, preserves the sovereignty of nations and the rights of their peoples, and allows the Lebanese to focus on rebuilding what has been destroyed and restoring their normal lives in a secure and stable state.
