وفي مقطع فيديو نشرته عبر حساباتها الرسمية، نفت ميلوني بشكل قاطع رواية ترمب، ووصفت تصريحاته بأنها «مختلقة بالكامل ومتحيزة»، مؤكدة أن «أنا وإيطاليا لا نتوسل لأحد».
وأضافت رئيسة الوزراء الإيطالية في ردها الحاد: «عليه أن يوجه الحزم الذي يتحدث عنه إلى أعداء الغرب والولايات المتحدة، لا إلى حلفائه»، في إشارة إلى استيائها من استهداف حليف أوروبي بتصريحات اعتبرتها غير مبررة.
وكان ترمب قد أثار جدلاً واسعاً بعدما تحدث عن لقاء جمعه بميلوني على هامش القمة، مدعياً أنها كانت حريصة على التقاط صورة معه، وهو ما أثار موجة من التفاعلات السياسية والإعلامية في إيطاليا وخارجها.

The Italian Prime Minister added in her sharp response: “He should direct the toughness he talks about towards the enemies of the West and the United States, not towards his allies,” referring to her displeasure at the targeting of a European ally with what she considered unjustified remarks.
