The Russian security service announced today (Sunday) the detention of a minor in connection with a threat to carry out a terrorist attack in the Tsaritsyno park in Moscow.
The Russian news agency “Interfax” reported that the security service confirmed the detention of a minor following a threat to carry out a “terrorist” attack in Tsaritsyno park in the capital, Moscow, after receiving intelligence information from the United States.
The agency explained that it received information from the United States through existing partnership channels regarding preparations for an attack in Moscow, and that it is taking appropriate measures. According to the agency, the Federal Security Service stated that the minor posted pictures of himself on the “TikTok” app wearing military clothing, covering his head and face, and holding what appears to be an automatic weapon, in addition to photos taken at the Tsaritsyno museum in Moscow with a caption saying “I found the place.”
The security service said in a statement: “We are grateful to the American side for providing us with this information,” noting that the officials who searched the minor’s home found the clothing and accessories that appeared in the social media posts, while his phone showed his subscription to a channel for “neo-Nazis” on “Telegram” and a large number of searches related to terrorist attacks, mass killings, and other acts of violence.
The Federal Security Service stated that the Russian Investigative Committee is considering the legal or procedural actions that should be taken.
Tsaritsyno, a museum, palace, and park located in southern Moscow, was temporarily closed yesterday following the information received from the United States.
