أعلنت سويسرا أن المفاوضات التي كانت مقررة، اليوم (الجمعة)، بين إيران والولايات المتحدة، لن تعقد، بعد أن ألغى نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس رحلته إلى جنيف، حيث كان من المرتقب أن تجرى مراسم توقيع رسمية لمذكرة التفاهم وانطلاق المحادثات بين واشنطن وطهران.
وأفادت وزارة الخارجية السويسرية في بيان، بأن المحادثات الأمريكية – الإيرانية لن تعقد اليوم في منتجع بورغنستوك الجبلي كما كان مخططا لها. إلا أن البيان المقتضب لم يأت على ذكر الأسباب الفعلية وراء إلغاء الجولة.
وكان متحدث باسم البيت الأبيض، أعلن مساء أمس (الخميس)، أن دي فانس ألغى رحلته التي كانت مقررة إلى سويسرا للقاء مفاوضين إيرانيين، بهدف بدء محادثات بشأن تنفيذ مذكرة التفاهم التي تم التوصل إليها بين طهران وواشنطن لإنهاء الحرب، ووقع عليها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب ونظيره الإيراني مسعود بزشكيان ليل الأربعاء الماضي.
وأضفى التأجيل المفاجئ غموضاً حول موعد بدء فترة التفاوض بين واشنطن وطهران التي من المفترض أن تستمر 60 يوما قابلة للتمديد، وفق ما نصت عليه مذكرة التفاهم. وأثار العديد من الشكوك والتكهنات حول مدى نجاح الطرفين في التوصل إلى اتفاق نهائي، خصوصا أن بعض الملفات قد تشكل عائقاً في طريق المفاوضات وفي مقدمتها ملف لبنان. إذ واصلت إسرائيل غاراتها على الجنوب اللبناني رغم التوافق الأمريكي – الإيراني. وأكد رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو أمس أن الجيش لن ينسحب مما أسماها المنطقة الآمنة في لبنان، والتي تمتد على نحو 10 كيلومترات جنوب نهر الليطاني.
كما أن ملف الأموال و«صندوق الاستثمارات» شكل خلال الساعات الماضية موضع جدل بين الجانبين الأمريكي والإيراني، فضلا عن أن «إدارة» مضيق هرمز بعد الـ 60 يوماً قد تشكل أحد الملفات المتفجرة.
Switzerland announced that the negotiations scheduled for today (Friday) between Iran and the United States will not take place, after U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance canceled his trip to Geneva, where an official signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding and the start of talks between Washington and Tehran were expected to occur.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that the U.S.-Iranian talks will not be held today at the Bürgenstock mountain resort as planned. However, the brief statement did not mention the actual reasons behind the cancellation of the round.
A White House spokesperson announced last night (Thursday) that Vance had canceled his trip to Switzerland to meet with Iranian negotiators, aiming to initiate discussions on implementing the memorandum of understanding reached between Tehran and Washington to end the war, which was signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Bezhakian last Wednesday night.
The sudden postponement has cast uncertainty over the start date of the negotiation period between Washington and Tehran, which is supposed to last for 60 days and is extendable, as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding. It raised many doubts and speculations about the likelihood of both parties reaching a final agreement, especially since some issues may pose obstacles to the negotiations, particularly the Lebanon file. Israel has continued its airstrikes on southern Lebanon despite the U.S.-Iranian agreement. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed yesterday that the army would not withdraw from what he termed the safe zone in Lebanon, which extends about 10 kilometers south of the Litani River.
Additionally, the issue of funds and the “Investment Fund” has been a topic of debate between the American and Iranian sides in recent hours, as well as the “management” of the Strait of Hormuz after the 60 days, which could be one of the explosive files.
