Motherhood remains one of the most unique human relationships and the one most closely tied to the soul. It is a human experience that reshapes a woman from within and gives life a different meaning. Whenever we think that the discussion about motherhood has exhausted its meanings, we discover that there are details worth telling anew.
The story begins in the warm darkness where that embryo formed, clinging to the cord of life, which was not just flesh and blood, but a crucible of new emotions and delicate currents flowing from beneath the cradle to the depths of the heart. Thus begins the journey of weakness, which can best be described as delicious fatigue and comforting heaviness, mingling with a vast world of feelings and the beginning of a relationship of love and tenderness that grows steadily until the moment of meeting. The umbilical cord was cut metaphorically, but in reality, its bond tightened in an attempt to reclaim what was taken away. From that moment, her little one grows, and his steps widen, but he remains in her heart her first child whom she embraced before the world.
Motherhood is not a transient phase in a woman’s life, but a profound transformation in her outlook on life. In motherhood, concepts and systems will change; a woman will discover aspects of her personality she never knew before. She will love herself more and fear for life more; she will not see the world from the same angle, as it has become a part of her body that shares her simplicity.
Staying up late will become her companion, and anxiety and thinking will not leave her. Food will no longer be for pleasure but to sustain her strength. She will not find solace in reading a book or watching a movie, as motherhood will occupy her focus and cut the thread of her thoughts. Even in pain and sadness, she will become braver, recover faster, and overcome easily, for she no longer has the luxury of collapse. Her imagination will expand, her tears will be closer, and her senses will be more truthful. A personality will emerge that she has never known before, carrying within it a strange contradiction between tenderness and firmness, between fear and the desire to grant her children the freedom to explore the world, while being cautious of the unknown that awaits them.
True love is created between compassion and wisdom; it does not create chains of tenderness, nor does it turn fear into permanent guardianship. Instead, it provides roots with enough stability and leaves wings the right to soar.
In motherhood, priorities change, some dreams recede to give birth to others, and a mother sometimes silently relinquishes parts of herself in a journey of balance between her private world and her children’s world. She does not give birth to them just once; she is reborn with them at every stage of their lives, learning from them as much as she teaches them, leaving in their souls an imprint that absence cannot erase. For motherhood is a love that does not end with the independence of the children, nor even with the departure of the mother.
