The local authority in Taiz Governorate warned today (Thursday) against the forced recruitment and mobilization campaigns being carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia in some districts of the governorate, calling on parents, educators, and youth not to engage in sectarian mobilization activities.
The local authority confirmed in a statement from the media office of the governorate that those involved in facilitating or supporting these practices will face legal accountability, clarifying that it is monitoring the militia’s attempts to subject educational and community institutions to sectarian mobilization programs, change curricula, and target the minds of children and youth with foreign ideological ideas aimed at erasing national identity and undermining the values of the republican system.
It emphasized that these practices reveal the Houthis’ efforts to impose their project by force in the areas under their control, coinciding with the ongoing siege of the city of Taiz and the shelling of its residential neighborhoods, resulting in civilian casualties, despite the militia’s announcements regarding opening roads and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The local authority warned of the repercussions of involving children and school students in combat fronts, away from their classrooms and their right to education and a safe life, calling on citizens to remember the humanitarian tragedies left by the war and to protect their children from recruitment and mobilization campaigns.
It urged anyone involved in facilitating these practices or cooperating with the militia to take advantage of the opportunity for safe return and the general amnesty announced by the state leadership, and to stop providing any support for its activities, stressing that forced recruitment, espionage, and funding the militia or facilitating its operations will face the legal penalties prescribed, according to the statement from the Presidential Leadership Council.
The local authority emphasized that ideas based on monopolizing power and claiming a divine right to rule contradict the principles of equal citizenship and the values of the republican system, entrenching discrimination and violating the rights and freedoms of citizens.
It affirmed that Taiz will remain committed to the republican system and the values of freedom and human dignity, and will not accept subjecting its community to projects of mobilization and forced recruitment, calling for the protection of educational and community institutions and not to be drawn into activities that contribute to prolonging the war and deepening the suffering of Yemenis.
