عاد المدرب الأرجنتيني غوستافو ألفارو إلى الواجهة العالمية بعدما قاد منتخب باراغواي للتأهل إلى نهائيات كأس العالم 2026، في محطة جديدة ضمن مسيرة تدريبية امتدت بين الأندية والمنتخبات، وكانت من بينها تجربة قصيرة مع النادي الأهلي السعودي قبل 17 عامًا.
وشهد عام 2009 تولي ألفارو قيادة الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي، إلا أن تجربته لم تستمر طويلًا، إذ أشرف على الفريق خلال 8 مباريات فقط قبل نهاية مشواره مع النادي، في واحدة من أقصر محطاته التدريبية خارج القارة الأمريكية.
وبعد رحيله عن الأهلي، عاد المدرب الأرجنتيني إلى بلاده ليستكمل مسيرته في الدوري الأرجنتيني، حيث قاد فرق ساراندي، وتيغري، وخيمناسيا، وهوراكان، إضافة إلى بوكا جونيورز، وحقق خلالها عدة نجاحات على مستوى المنافسات المحلية والقارية.
وعلى مستوى المنتخبات، خاض ألفارو تجارب دولية متتالية بدأت مع منتخب الإكوادور، الذي قاده إلى نهائيات كأس العالم 2022، ثم منتخب كوستاريكا، قبل أن يتولى قيادة منتخب باراغواي في 2024 ويقوده إلى العودة للمونديال بعد غياب دام 16 عامًا.
ويخوض ألفارو مونديال 2026 بطموحات كبيرة مع باراغواي، مستندًا إلى خبرة طويلة جمعت بين أندية أمريكا الجنوبية وتجارب دولية متنوعة، بدأت إحداها من الملاعب السعودية عبر بوابة الأهلي.
The Argentine coach Gustavo Alvaro has returned to the global spotlight after leading the Paraguay national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, marking a new phase in a coaching career that has spanned both clubs and national teams, including a brief stint with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli club 17 years ago.
In 2009, Alvaro took over as head coach of the first football team at Al Ahli, but his experience did not last long, as he oversaw the team for only 8 matches before his tenure ended, making it one of his shortest coaching stops outside the American continent.
After leaving Al Ahli, the Argentine coach returned to his home country to continue his career in the Argentine league, where he managed teams such as Sarandi, Tigre, Gimnasia, and Huracán, in addition to Boca Juniors, achieving several successes at both local and continental levels.
On the national team front, Alvaro has had consecutive international experiences, starting with the Ecuador national team, which he led to the 2022 World Cup, followed by the Costa Rica national team, before taking charge of the Paraguay national team in 2024 and leading them back to the World Cup after a 16-year absence.
Alvaro heads into the 2026 World Cup with great ambitions for Paraguay, drawing on a long experience that combines South American clubs and diverse international experiences, one of which began in Saudi stadiums through Al Ahli.
