وبحسب شبكة «سكاي سبورتس»، ألقت الشرطة القبض على لاعب المنتخب الإنجليزي السابق رحيم ستيرلينغ للاشتباه في قيادته تحت تأثير المخدرات، إذ يُزعم أن اللاعب البالغ من العمر 31 عاماً، والذي انضم إلى نادي فينورد الهولندي في فبراير، تسبب في حادثة بسيارته اللامبورغيني أثناء قيادته على الطريق السريع M3 يوم الخميس، وتم إيقافه من قبل الشرطة في التاسعة صباحاً.

وقالت شرطة هامبشاير في بيان: «قبل الساعة التاسعة صباحاً بقليل يوم الخميس، تلقينا بلاغات تفيد بأن سيارة لامبورغيني اصطدمت بالحواجز على الطريق السريع M3 المتجه جنوباً، بالقرب من تقاطع مينلي».
وأضاف البيان: «لم تشارك أي مركبات أخرى في الحادثة، ولم يتم الإبلاغ عن أي إصابات، فيما تم القبض على سائق السيارة، وهو رجل يبلغ من العمر 31 عاماً من بيركشاير، للاشتباه في قيادته مركبة تحت تأثير المخدرات، والقيادة بشكل خطير، وحيازة مخدرات من الفئة ج، والامتناع عن تقديم عينة».
وختم بيان شرطة هامبشاير قائلاً: «تم إطلاق سراح المتهم بكفالة لحين استكمال التحقيقات».

Details of the Incident
According to Sky Sports, the police arrested former England international Raheem Sterling on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, as it is alleged that the 31-year-old player, who joined the Dutch club Feyenoord in February, caused an incident with his Lamborghini while driving on the M3 motorway on Thursday, and he was stopped by the police at 9 a.m.
Hampshire Police Statement
Hampshire Police stated in a statement: “Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, we received reports that a Lamborghini had collided with barriers on the southbound M3 motorway, near the Minley interchange.”
The statement added: “No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no injuries have been reported, while the driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of Class C drugs, and failing to provide a sample.”
Hampshire Police concluded their statement by saying: “The suspect has been released on bail pending further investigations.”
