وصف وزير الدفاع الأمريكي بيت هيغسيث، اليوم (السبت)، المحادثات بين واشنطن وطهران بـ«المثمرة»، مؤكداً أنها تسير في الاتجاه الذي تريده الولايات المتحدة.
وخلال حديثه للصحفيين في سنغافورة، قال هيغسيث: «الأمور تسير في الاتجاه الذي نريده» مع إيران، موضحاً أن المحادثات «كانت مثمرة، وأعتقد أنهم يدركون إلى أين يجب أن تمضي الأمور».
الحصار البحري لإيران قائم
وأضاف: «الحصار البحري على إيران لا يزال قائماً إلى حد كبير»، مبيناً أن الرئيس حريص على عدم حصول طهران على سلاح نووي.
ولفت إلى أن الرئيس ترمب لن يوقّع أي صفقة إلا إذا كانت في صالح أمريكا، مشدداً بالقول: «أهدافنا بشأن إيران لم تتغير».
وكان هيغسيث قد قال في وقت سابق اليوم إن الولايات المتحدة مستعدة لاستئناف الهجمات على إيران إذا تعذر التوصل إلى اتفاق، لافتاً إلى أن مخزونات الذخائر «أكثر من كافية لذلك، سواء هناك أو في أنحاء العالم، لذا نحن في وضع جيد جداً».
وأشار إلى أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب صبور ويريد إبرام صفقة كبيرة تضمن عدم حصول إيران على سلاح نووي، مؤكداً أن الولايات المتحدة لم تدر ظهرها لمنطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ رغم انخراطها في صراع مع إيران.
وأضاف: «يمكننا القيام بأمرين في وقت واحد، إذ نعزز قاعدتنا الصناعية الدفاعية بشكل كبير، بحيث ننتج مثلي أو 3 أمثال أو 4 أمثال الذخيرة في المستقبل القريب، لضمان تمويل جميع خططنا العملياتية بشكل مناسب في أنحاء العالم».
وأشار إلى أن بلاده «لا تزال لديها التزامات عالمية لضمان عدم حصول إيران على سلاح نووي».
لغم بحري في «هرمز»
من جهة أخرى، قال مركز الأمن البحري العُماني اليوم إنه رصد جسماً عائماً يُشتبه بأنه لغم بحري غرب منطقة الملاحة الساحلية في مضيق هرمز، مطالباً الملاّحين بالحفاظ على مسافة آمنة من أي أجسام مشبوهة.
وكتب المركز على حسابه في منصة «إكس»: «نظراً إلى رصد جسم عائم يُشتبه في أنه لغم بحري غرب منطقة الملاحة الساحلية في مضيق هرمز ضمن المياه الإقليمية العُمانية، يحث مركز الأمن البحري جميع الملاحين وصيادي الأسماك والسفن على اتخاذ أقصى درجات الحذر أثناء الإبحار في المنطقة».
وأضاف: «يُنصح جميع مستخدمي الملاحة البحرية بالحفاظ على مسافة آمنة من أي أجسام مشبوهة والإبلاغ عنها فوراً إلى الجهات المختصة».
بدورها، قالت بحرية الحرس الثوري إن 20 سفينة عبرت من مضيق هرمز خلال الساعات الـ24 الماضية بالتنسيق مع قواتها.
وكانت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية قد قالت إن مستوى التهديد الأمني البحري في مضيق هرمز لا يزال حرجاً للغاية بسبب الحصار.
The U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, described the talks between Washington and Tehran today (Saturday) as “productive,” affirming that they are moving in the direction desired by the United States.
During his remarks to reporters in Singapore, Hegseth said, “Things are moving in the direction we want” with Iran, explaining that the talks “have been productive, and I believe they understand where things need to go.”
The maritime blockade on Iran remains in place
He added, “The maritime blockade on Iran is still largely in place,” indicating that the president is keen on preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
He pointed out that President Trump will not sign any deal unless it is in America’s favor, emphasizing, “Our goals regarding Iran have not changed.”
Hegseth had stated earlier today that the United States is prepared to resume attacks on Iran if an agreement cannot be reached, noting that ammunition stocks “are more than sufficient for that, whether there or around the world, so we are in a very good position.”
He noted that President Donald Trump is patient and wants to strike a big deal that ensures Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons, affirming that the United States has not turned its back on the Asia-Pacific region despite its involvement in a conflict with Iran.
He added, “We can do two things at once, as we significantly enhance our defense industrial base, so that we produce two, three, or four times the ammunition in the near future, to ensure all our operational plans are adequately funded around the world.”
He indicated that his country “still has global commitments to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.”
Mine detected in “Hormuz”
On another note, the Omani Maritime Security Center reported today that it has detected a floating object suspected to be a naval mine west of the coastal navigation area in the Strait of Hormuz, urging sailors to maintain a safe distance from any suspicious objects.
The center wrote on its account on the “X” platform: “Due to the detection of a floating object suspected to be a naval mine west of the coastal navigation area in the Strait of Hormuz within Omani territorial waters, the Maritime Security Center urges all sailors, fishermen, and vessels to exercise the utmost caution while navigating in the area.”
It added, “All maritime navigation users are advised to keep a safe distance from any suspicious objects and report them immediately to the relevant authorities.”
For its part, the Revolutionary Guard Navy stated that 20 vessels have transited the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours in coordination with its forces.
The British Maritime Trade Operations Agency had stated that the level of maritime security threat in the Strait of Hormuz remains extremely critical due to the blockade.
