استنفرت العاصمة الكورية الجنوبية سيؤول طواقمها الإسعافية والأمنية، أمس (الثلاثاء)، 26 مايو، إثر وقوع حادثة انهيار مفاجئ لجزء من جسر علوي قديم خاضع لأعمال الإزالة؛ ما أسفر عن مقتل ثلاثة أشخاص وإصابة ثلاثة آخرين بجروح متفرقة، وسط جهود إنقاذ مكثفة وتحقيقات موسعة للكشف عن مسببات الكارثة.
ونقلت وكالة «يونهاب» الكورية الجنوبية للأنباء عن مسؤولين محليين، أن أجزاء خرسانية ضخمة ومخلفات إنشائية ثقيلة هوت بشكل مفاجئ من أعلى جسر «سيوسومون» العلوي في تمام الساعة 2:32 بعد الظهر بالتوقيت المحلي. وتزامن هذا الانهيار المروع مع عمليات فحص أمني كانت تُجرى في الموقع ضمن خطة تفكيك مجدولة للانتهاء من الجسر بحلول أوائل يونيو القادم.
ضحايا تحت الأنقاض
وأوضحت السلطات أن الكتل الخرسانية المتساقطة باغتت الموجودين في منطقة العمل؛ إذ تبين أن أحد القتلى كان من المارة الذين صادف وجودهم أسفل الجسر، في حين كان باقي الضحايا والمصابين من العمال المشاركين في تنفيذ مراحل الإزالة.
وفور وقوع الحادثة، هرعت إلى الموقع فرق إغاثية ضخمة ضمت 62 عنصراً من رجال الإطفاء مدعومين بـ16 قطعة من المعدات الثقيلة، إلى جانب نحو 30 فرداً من قوات الشرطة لتأمين المحيط وتسهيل عمليات البحث عن أي محاصرين أو إصابات إضافية تحت الأنقاض.
شلل في حركة القطارات
وتسببت تداعيات الانهيار والإجراءات الأمنية الصارمة المتخذة في الموقع، في إعلان شركة السكك الحديدية الكورية تعليق حركة القطارات بشكل مؤقت بين محطتي «سيؤول» و«سينتشون» لضمان سلامة الركاب.
وفي الوقت الذي تسابق فيه فرق الإنقاذ الزمن لرفع الأنقاض وتأمين الموقع، فتحت الجهات المختصة تحقيقاً رسمياً وعاجلاً للوقوف على الأسباب الهندسية والفنية الكامنة وراء هذا الانهيار المفاجئ، وتحديد مدى الالتزام بمعايير السلامة أثناء عمليات الهدم والتفكيك.
The South Korean capital, Seoul, mobilized its emergency and security teams yesterday (Tuesday), May 26, following a sudden collapse of part of an old overhead bridge undergoing demolition; resulting in the death of three people and injuries to three others, amid intensive rescue efforts and extensive investigations to uncover the causes of the disaster.
The South Korean news agency “Yonhap” reported from local officials that large concrete pieces and heavy construction debris unexpectedly fell from the top of the “Seosomun” overhead bridge at exactly 2:32 PM local time. This horrific collapse coincided with security checks being conducted at the site as part of a scheduled dismantling plan to complete the bridge by early June.
Victims Under the Rubble
Authorities clarified that the falling concrete blocks caught those in the work area by surprise; it was revealed that one of the deceased was a passerby who happened to be under the bridge, while the other victims and injured were workers involved in the demolition phases.
Immediately after the incident, large rescue teams rushed to the site, including 62 firefighters supported by 16 pieces of heavy equipment, along with about 30 police officers to secure the area and facilitate the search for any trapped individuals or additional injuries under the rubble.
Disruption in Train Services
The repercussions of the collapse and the strict security measures taken at the site led the Korean railway company to temporarily suspend train services between the “Seoul” and “Sinchon” stations to ensure passenger safety.
While rescue teams raced against time to clear the rubble and secure the site, the relevant authorities opened an official and urgent investigation to determine the engineering and technical reasons behind this sudden collapse and assess compliance with safety standards during the demolition and dismantling operations.
