The tragedy of an American bride who lost her fiancé months before their wedding date has turned into a legal battle that sparked widespread controversy and outrage on social media.
In the state of Texas, the wedding hall management refused to refund the amount paid by the couple for the wedding reservation, which totaled $16,000, despite the groom’s death before the ceremony.
The hall insisted on the terms of the contract, stating that it does not include death among the reasons for a refund, and instead suggested that the bride postpone the date or use the reservation for another occasion.
Faced with the hall’s refusal to refund the amount, the bride turned to the courts in late July to demand her rights. However, the surprise came when the hall filed a counterclaim demanding payment of the remaining value of the contract, indicating that it had not received sufficient proof of the groom’s death, turning the case into a wide legal and humanitarian debate.
