Union coach Jens Wissing strongly responded to the criticisms regarding the rotation policy, following his team’s loss to their guest, Al Ahli UAE, with a score of (2-1), in the match that took place at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, during the second round of the Western Region competitions in the 2026-2027 AFC Champions League. He said: “When we were winning, I didn’t hear this question, and now after the loss, everyone is talking about rotation. I decide based on what I see as suitable for the team.”
Regarding the decline after the international break, the German coach admitted its impact, saying: “Before the break, we were winning consistently, and after it, we lost twice. The long break definitely affects, it was a tough week for us.”
He added: “We worked hard during the break and tried to show our true face, but the lack of match sensitivity affected us, and we made mistakes that we couldn’t rectify.”
Wissing emphasized at the end of his talk: “The break is not the only reason, but it is influential, and my role now is to analyze what happened and quickly correct the course.”
