فيصل بن فهد.. الغائب الحاضر في ذاكرة المرضى والرياضة – أخبار السعودية – ن والقلم

في مثل هذه الأيام قبل 30 عاماً، تعرضتُ لعارض صحي صعب – أبعد الله عنكم كل مكروه – وكنتُ حينها مؤمناً بقضاء الله وقدره. للأسف، لم يتمكن الأطباء في مستشفى الملك فهد بالمدينة المنورة من تشخيص المرض، فكتبت عدة صحف عن حالتي وحاجتي للعلاج في مستشفى متخصص، ومن بينها صحيفتي الغالية «عكاظ» التي أعتز بالانتماء إليها.

وفي اليوم ذاته، وجه الأمير فيصل بن فهد – رحمه الله رحمة واسعة وأسكنه فسيح جناته – بعلاجي في أي مكان في العالم على حسابه الشخصي؛ فاخترتُ العلاج في مستشفى الملك فيصل التخصصي بالرياض، نظراً لإمكانياته الكبيرة، ورغبةً في البقاء قريباً من الأهل.

بعد شهرين من المعاناة، مَنَّ الله عليَّ بالشفاء وخرجتُ من المستشفى، فطلبتُ من مكتب العلاقات العامة لسموه موعداً لزيارته وشكره، وتم تحديد الموعد في اليوم التالي لخروجي. عند دخولي مقر الرئاسة العامة لرعاية الشباب، أدركتُ حجم العمل الضخم الذي يقوم به سموه. هناك التقيتُ بمدير مكتبه، صاحب الأخلاق الرفيعة فيصل بن عبدالعزيز النصار، الذي رحب بي وبصحبته الغالي على قلبي عبدالرحمن المسعد (رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة السلة السابق). أخبرنا حينها أن الأمير غادر الرياض في مهمة رسمية ويعتذر عن اللقاء، على أن يتم ترتيب لقاء آخر لاحقاً؛ غادرتُ المكتب وفي نفسي حسرة لعدم لقاء هذه الشخصية الاستثنائية التي يصعب أن تتكرر.

استمرت رحلة علاجي ومراجعاتي للمستشفى التخصصي، وكان مكتب سموه يستقبلنا في المطار ويؤمِّن السكن. وأتذكر في أحد مواعيدي خلال شهر رمضان المبارك، وبينما كنتُ أتناول الإفطار في مطعم الفندق برفقة أحد موظفي العلاقات العامة، قال لي: «إن جميع من تراهم على موائد الإفطار هنا يعالجون في (التخصصي) على نفقة الأمير فيصل بن فهد، وهم من جنسيات مختلفة (مصر، سورية، السودان، المغرب..)». كان الجميع يرفعون أكف الضراعة بالدعاء لهذا الرجل، تقديراً لمواقفه الإنسانية العظيمة التي لا يعرف الناس عنها إلا القليل.

حين انتقل الأمير فيصل بن فهد إلى جوار ربه، تأثرتُ كثيراً، واسترجعتُ كل تلك اللحظات والمواقف النبيلة التي أحاطني بها خلال فترة علاجي.

وبعد سنوات طويلة، وتحديداً قبل عشر سنوات، تشرفتُ بلقاء مدير مكتبه فيصل النصار في مدينة «مكناس» بالمغرب، حيث كنتُ موفداً إعلامياً مع المنتخب السعودي لكرة السلة في البطولة العربية، وكان هو في زيارة خاصة. سلمتُ عليه بحرارة، فعرفني مباشرة وسأل عن صحتي؛ جلسنا في بهو الفندق، وطلبتُ منه أن يحدثني عن الأمير الراحل، فقال: «سأحدثك ببعض المواقف، لكن ليس للنشر بل لك شخصياً، فالحديث عن إنسانيته يحتاج مجلدات».

حدثني بإنصات عن مواقف إنسانية لا تحصى، وعن شخصيته القيادية القوية التي وضعت الرياضة السعودية في مكانة مرموقة، وكيف كان يُستقبل في الخارج استقبال رؤساء الدول لمكانته وفرادة شخصيته. سألته حينها: «هل كان الأمير يتابع حالتي الصحية فعلاً كما أخبرتني سابقاً، أم كانت مجاملة منك؟» فأجاب بحزم: «نعم، كان يتابعك بالاسم تحديداً، وكان يتابع الكثيرين غيرك».

وروى لي قصة موظف بسيط في رعاية الشباب بالمدينة المنورة أصيب بمرض الكبد الوبائي، فأمر سموه بعلاجه في أمريكا. وعندما تأهل المنتخب لكأس العالم 1998، أرسل ذلك الموظف برقية تهنئة للأمير، فاتصل به سموه شخصياً من أمريكا – حيث كان يرافق والدته المريضة آنذاك – ليشكر الموظف على تهنئته الرقيقة ويطمئن على صحته؛ مواقف إنسانية كثيرة رواها لي، لكني احترمتُ رغبته في عدم النشر.

تلقيتُ مؤخراً اتصالاً من فيصل النصار (أبو عبدالله)، الذي عُرف بوفائه النادر، وهو امتداد لمدرسة الأمير فيصل بن فهد – رحمه الله – ليطمئن على صحتي؛ فما أجمل وفاء هذا الرجل وما أنبل تاريخه الناصع البياض.

إن الكتابة عن شخصية بحجم الأمير فيصل بن فهد أمر بالغ الصعوبة، فقد كان رجلاً بارعاً يفرض عليك الإنصات، متحدثاً لبقاً، وخير سفير للمملكة في المحافل الدولية؛ لقد كان بحق صاحب موقف وشخصية فريدة وقوية.

كتبتُ عنه مقالاً في «عكاظ» فور رحيله بعنوان: «فيصل.. أنا أعرف ماذا فعلت».

رحمة الله عليك أيها الشهم النبيل.. رحمة الله عليك أيها الفارس الكريم.. ستظل ذكراك حية في قلوبنا وعقولنا دائماً.

In these days, 30 years ago, I experienced a serious health issue – may God keep all harm away from you – and at that time, I was a believer in God’s decree and destiny. Unfortunately, the doctors at King Fahd Hospital in Medina could not diagnose the illness, so several newspapers wrote about my condition and my need for treatment at a specialized hospital, including my beloved newspaper “Okaz,” to which I take pride in belonging.

On the same day, Prince Faisal bin Fahd – may God have mercy on him and grant him a spacious abode in Paradise – directed that I be treated anywhere in the world at his personal expense; I chose to receive treatment at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, due to its great capabilities and my desire to stay close to my family.

After two months of suffering, God blessed me with recovery, and I was discharged from the hospital. I requested an appointment from His Highness’s public relations office to visit him and express my gratitude, and the appointment was set for the day after my discharge. Upon entering the headquarters of the General Presidency for Youth Welfare, I realized the magnitude of the tremendous work being done by His Highness. There, I met his office manager, the gentleman with high morals, Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Nassar, who welcomed me along with my dear companion Abdulrahman Al-Mas’ad (the former president of the Saudi Basketball Federation). He informed us that the prince had left Riyadh on an official mission and apologized for the meeting, but another meeting would be arranged later; I left the office feeling regretful for not meeting this exceptional personality that is hard to find again.

My treatment journey and follow-ups at the specialized hospital continued, and His Highness’s office would receive us at the airport and arrange accommodation. I remember during one of my appointments in the holy month of Ramadan, while I was having iftar at the hotel restaurant with one of the public relations staff, he said to me: “All those you see at the iftar tables here are being treated at (the specialized hospital) at the expense of Prince Faisal bin Fahd, and they come from different nationalities (Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Morocco..).” Everyone was raising their hands in prayer for this man, in appreciation of his great humanitarian stances that people know little about.

When Prince Faisal bin Fahd passed away, I was deeply affected, and I recalled all those noble moments and stances he surrounded me with during my treatment period.

After many years, specifically ten years ago, I had the honor of meeting his office manager Faisal Al-Nassar in the city of “Meknes” in Morocco, where I was an accredited media representative with the Saudi basketball team at the Arab Championship, and he was on a private visit. I warmly greeted him, and he recognized me immediately and asked about my health; we sat in the hotel lobby, and I asked him to tell me about the late prince, and he said: “I will tell you some stories, but not for publication, just for you personally, as talking about his humanity requires volumes.”

He listened attentively as he recounted countless humanitarian moments and about his strong leadership personality that placed Saudi sports in a prestigious position, and how he was received abroad like heads of state due to his stature and unique character. I asked him then: “Did the prince really follow my health condition as you previously mentioned, or was that just a courtesy from you?” He replied firmly: “Yes, he followed you by name specifically, and he followed many others besides you.”

He told me the story of a simple employee in Youth Welfare in Medina who contracted hepatitis, and His Highness ordered that he be treated in America. When the national team qualified for the 1998 World Cup, that employee sent a congratulatory telegram to the prince, who personally called him from America – where he was accompanying his sick mother at that time – to thank the employee for his kind congratulations and to check on his health; he recounted many humanitarian moments to me, but I respected his wish not to publish them.

I recently received a call from Faisal Al-Nassar (Abu Abdullah), who is known for his rare loyalty, and is a continuation of the school of Prince Faisal bin Fahd – may God have mercy on him – to check on my health; how beautiful is the loyalty of this man and how noble is his spotless history.

Writing about a personality as significant as Prince Faisal bin Fahd is extremely difficult, as he was a brilliant man who compelled you to listen, an eloquent speaker, and an excellent ambassador for the Kingdom in international forums; he truly was a man of stance and a unique and strong personality.

I wrote an article about him in “Okaz” immediately after his passing titled: “Faisal.. I know what you did.”

May God have mercy on you, noble and gallant one.. May God have mercy on you, generous knight.. Your memory will always remain alive in our hearts and minds.
