Borussia Dortmund snatched a draw in the final minutes on the ground of their host Bayern Munich with a score of (2-2) today, in the German football summit and the matches of the eighth round of the German Bundesliga.
The match began with a tribute to Harry Kane, Bayern Munich’s striker, who received the Ballon d’Or award last Monday after surpassing Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal, the stars of Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.
During the match, Bayern Munich struggled as they had to rely on Englishman Aaron Danks, who took over the coaching duties of the team in place of Vincent Kompany, who was absent due to illness. The team made three forced substitutions, with Ismaila Sarr, Serge Gnabry, and Michael Olise all leaving the pitch within 90 minutes.
Dortmund had a goal disallowed by the referee in the 33rd minute for a foul on Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper Jonas Oerbig, before the Bavarian team succeeded in scoring the opening goal through Konrad Laimer in the 38th minute. In the 55th minute, Harry Kane missed a chance to score Bayern’s second goal after missing a penalty, then Dortmund equalized with a goal from Ciro Grassi in the 60th minute. Bayern Munich regained the lead again through their defender Dayot Upamecano in the 66th minute, before Fabio Silva scored the equalizer for Dortmund in the 89th minute.
With this result, Bayern Munich raised their tally to 18 points in first place, ahead of Dortmund in second place only by goal difference.
