Senegal national team coach Patrick Vieira revealed the reason for excluding Al-Nassr star Sadio Mane from the “Lions of Teranga” squad for the matches against Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Second Consecutive Absence
Sadio Mane missed the first camp for Senegal under the new coach Patrick Vieira due to physical unfitness, and he continued to be absent from the second camp in a row.
Reason for Mane’s Exclusion
Vieira stated in a comment reported by the Senegalese website “Seneweb”: “I spoke with Mane over the phone, and he received the call-up, but Sadio wanted to stay with his family because he is expecting a baby. His desire was to be close to his family, and I granted him permission.”
11 Goal Contributions with Al-Nassr
Sadio Mane participated in 15 matches wearing the Al-Nassr jersey across various competitions this season, during which he provided 11 goal contributions, consisting of 3 goals and 8 assists.
