سلّطت دراسة حديثة الضوء على احتمال وجود ارتباط بين الانتشار الواسع للهواتف الذكية وتراجع معدلات الإنجاب في عدد من دول العالم، ما فتح باب النقاش حول تأثير التكنولوجيا الحديثة على أنماط الحياة والعلاقات الاجتماعية.
ووفقاً لما تناولته الدراسة، فإن الاستخدام المتزايد للهواتف الذكية ومنصات التواصل الاجتماعي، أسهم في تغيير طبيعة التفاعل بين الأفراد، خاصة لدى فئة الشباب، وهو ما قد ينعكس على تكوين العلاقات الأسرية واتخاذ قرارات الزواج والإنجاب.
وأشار الباحثون إلى أن معدلات الخصوبة شهدت انخفاضاً ملحوظاً في العديد من الدول خلال السنوات التي تلت انتشار الهواتف الذكية على نطاق واسع، إلا أنهم أكدوا أن هذه الملاحظات لا تعني وجود علاقة سببية مباشرة بين الأمرين.
ولفتت الدراسة إلى أن تراجع معدلات الإنجاب يرتبط بمجموعة من العوامل المتداخلة، من بينها الظروف الاقتصادية، وارتفاع تكاليف المعيشة، والتغيرات الاجتماعية والثقافية، إلى جانب التحولات التي فرضها التطور التقني على أساليب التواصل والحياة اليومية.
وأكد الباحثون، أن النتائج المطروحة ما تزال بحاجة إلى مزيد من الدراسات والأبحاث لفهم طبيعة العلاقة بين استخدام التكنولوجيا الحديثة والتحولات الديموغرافية التي يشهدها العالم في السنوات الأخيرة.
