The Romanian coach of Al Sadd, Razvan Luchescu, confirmed that the team did not show its usual level during the match against Saudi Al Hilal, which they lost by two clean goals, in the encounter that took place at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium as part of the second round of the Western Group in the AFC Champions League for elite football.
The coach stated in a press conference after the match that Al Sadd played against a strong opponent that includes a selection of the best players, while the team did not deliver the ideal performance needed to achieve the result they were aiming for.
Luchescu explained that the team is not in its best condition, but they are required to exert more effort and intensify their work in the upcoming phase to compensate and return to competing in the Asian championship, seeking to quickly regain balance.
Luchescu added: “Some players are coming back from injuries, and others have not reached their full potential. We tried in the match against Al Hilal to find solutions and motivate the players after we conceded a goal, and we attempted to come back but then conceded another goal from a penalty.”
The coach concluded by emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes and working to avoid them in future matches, adding that the upcoming journey requires the highest levels of focus in search of compensation and a return to the path of victories.
Al Sadd suffered its second defeat in the AFC Champions League this season, remaining without any points, before facing Al Qadisiyah of Saudi Arabia in the third round on October 26 at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.
