From classrooms to scientific research platforms, Jeddah’s education sector made a remarkable presence at the “Inspirational” forum hosted in the capital, Riyadh, last week, after three educational practices from its schools and educational competencies were selected among eight distinguished practices at the level of education administrations in the Kingdom. These were chosen from over 700 documented educational practices backed by scientific research, allowing Jeddah’s education to claim the largest share of the selected practices, in an achievement that reflects the educational field’s ability to transform classroom experiences into research accomplishments that transcend the boundaries of the school.
This presence was not merely participation in a scientific forum, but an extension of an educational movement where the teacher’s expertise integrates with research and innovation tools. The forum witnessed the presentation of two practices on stage before participants and those interested in educational affairs, while the third practice was represented through a scientific poster showcasing its results and practical dimensions.
The first practice was titled “A More Confident Voice” by teacher Reem Mahdi Abdullah Al-Buqami from Dar Al-Arqam Primary School for Early Childhood, which addressed the use of an AI-based tool to measure its impact on developing oral reading skills in English among third-grade students, in an experience that leverages modern technologies to enhance the learner’s confidence in their language abilities and improve their performance.
The second practice was titled “Mathematics Closer to Their World” and was presented by Dr. Rahma Suleiman Hadi Thakir, Head of the Quality Services Department at the National Curriculum Center in Jeddah, in collaboration with teacher Hassan Dhafir Hassan Al-Zahrani from Toledo Secondary School. It discussed the impact of employing knowledge-enhancing trips supported by AI tools in raising academic achievement levels and improving high school students’ attitudes towards mathematics, opening new horizons for presenting scientific concepts in ways more connected to the learner’s world.
In a path that combines technology with imagination and innovation, the third practice emerged titled “From Simulation to Creativity” by teacher Samia Jabir Zuwair Al-Sulami from Al-Ghulah Intermediate and Secondary School, who proposed a training program for producing Internet of Things applications and measuring its impact on developing innovative thinking and design skills, in an experience that shifts the learner from consuming technology to participating in producing its solutions and applications.
The three practices gained their scientific value from transcending individual experience to research documentation, as their results were published in high-impact international scientific journals, with one of the studies receiving an international award. This reinforces the importance of linking educational practice with scientific research and transforming successful experiences into knowledge that can be developed, applied, and shared.
For her part, the Director General of Education in Jeddah Governorate, Manal bint Mubarak Al-Luhaibi, congratulated the participants in the forum, praising their scientific presence that reflects the excellence of educational and research competencies in the schools of the governorate, and appreciating their efforts in developing and documenting classroom practices according to scientific methodologies that contribute to improving the quality of education.
Al-Luhaibi emphasized that this achievement embodies the potential within the educational field in Jeddah for research, renewal, and innovation, pointing to the importance of continuing to support these competencies and empowering them to develop their experiences and transform them into transferable and scalable educational models, which in turn reflects on the quality of educational outcomes and elevates learning results.
This presence confirms that educational excellence is no longer measured solely by what is achieved within the walls of classrooms, but by what those classrooms produce in terms of ideas, experiences, and research capable of making an impact that transcends the boundaries of place, turning the school into a space for knowledge production, with the teacher as a partner in its creation, and scientific research as a bridge connecting experience and development.
