When life brings together a couple on a long journey of companionship, fate sometimes writes dramatic chapters that leave hearts with no choice but to stand in silent reverence for the truth of human bonds. In Iraq, the province of Kirkuk witnessed a rare and moving incident, as fate insisted on not separating partners even in their final moments, allowing them to depart this life with a time difference of less than 60 minutes.
In the details of the incident, the surrounding community was shocked by the passing of the husband, Thaer Dhiyab Mahmoud, who left this world. The family and loved ones of the deceased were unaware that the tragedy held a faster and harsher chapter, as less than one hour after the husband’s death was announced, his wife’s breath ceased to join him directly, in a shocking scene that stirred a deep wave of sorrow among the residents of the area.
In statements to the press from a medical source in the Kirkuk Health Department, it was said that the close timing of the two deaths is considered a rare and unusual occurrence in the province’s records. The incident left a mysterious and poignant human mark, reminding one of stories of death after separation or what is popularly known as “death of grief” or deep sorrow over the loss of a life partner. While fate closed the chapter of the couple’s life with this tragic ending, their close departure remains a living testament to a deep spiritual connection, which led them to refuse to remain in this world alone, allowing fate to write their departure together at the same time.
