بصراحة، قبل أول مباراة لمنتخبنا في كأس العالم لم يكن التفاؤل في تحقيق نتائج جيدة في أفضل حالاته بالنسبة للجمهور السعودي، لكن بعد المباراة الأولى ضد الأوروغواي أصبحت الآمال كبيرة في أن يتأهل المنتخب السعودي الذي في تقديري كان يستحق النقاط الثلاث في المباراة الأولى عطفاً على مستواه في الشوط الأول وطريقة المحافظة على النتيجة في الشوط الثاني، لو عرف مدرب المنتخب السعودي اليوناني جورجيوس دونيس التعامل مع التغييرات، إذ كان من المفترض أن يستعين بأيمن يحيى بدل سالم الدوسري الذي غاب كلياً عن المباراة ذهنياً وفنياً، كذلك كان من الأفضل الاعتماد على سلطان مندش بعد خروج محمد أبو الشامات.
مباريات مثل هذه تحتاج إلى التعامل مع تفاصيل بسيطة، حتى تحقق ما تريد، والمهم اليوم أن نتيجة التعادل كانت جيدة مع فريق قوي ومرشح للتأهل عن هذه المجموعة.

الحديث في غرفة الملابس مهم، والإحساس بالمسؤولية وأن الجميع يريد تحقيق إنجاز جديد للكرة السعودية أمر يساعد على السير في هذا الاتجاه بقوة.
مدرب المنتخب أجاد في تطبيق الأسلوب الفني الذي يريده، ولو تعامل مع التغييرات بذكاء ربما لم نخسر نقطتين مهمتين كانتا كفيلتين ربما بتأهل منتخبنا للدور القادم.
عموماً لدينا منتخب جيد وعناصر جيدة ولمسنا منهم الرغبة والإصرار على تقديم عمل يليق بالسعودية كدولة متطورة وبالقيادة والمواطن السعودي.

Honestly, before our national team’s first match in the World Cup, the optimism for achieving good results was not at its best among the Saudi audience. If the Greek coach of the Saudi team, Georgios Donis, had known how to handle the substitutions, he should have replaced Salem Al-Dosari with Ayman Yahya, who was completely absent from the match both mentally and technically. It would have also been better to rely on Sultan Mandash after the exit of Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat.
Matches like this require attention to simple details to achieve what you want, and the important thing today is that the draw result was good against a strong team that is a contender to qualify from this group.
The match against Uruguay was positive in terms of morale, gaining confidence, and presenting a good game against the Spanish team, which was not at its best in its first match in the World Cup against Cape Verde.
