في حادثة مفجعة أثارت صدمة كبيرة في جمهورية الدومينيكان، توفي ماريو أورينيا ضيف برنامج تلفزيوني حواري صباحي، فجأة أثناء البث المباشر بعد تعرضه لسكتة قلبية مفاجئة.
وذكرت مصادر إعلامية أن أورينيا كان يجلس على طاولة النقاش حين بدأت تظهر عليه علامات الإرهاق الشديد، قبل أن ينهار أمام الكاميرات، وسط ذهول الضيوف وفريق العمل. وجرى قطع البث مباشرة، فيما هرع طاقم الطوارئ لمحاولة إسعافه دون جدوى، لتُعلن لاحقاً وفاته.
وأكدت إدارة البرنامج أن التحقيقات الرسمية لا تزال جارية لتحديد سبب الوفاة بدقة، ورجّحت التقارير الأولية أن السبب هو سكتة قلبية مفاجئة. وقد انتشر مقطع فيديو للحظة سقوطه بشكل واسع على منصة «إكس»، فيما أصدر البرنامج بياناً نعى فيه أورينيا، مشيداً بمساهماته الكبيرة في تنظيم قطاع النقل في منطقة سانتياغو الغربية.
يذكر أن أورينيا كان رئيس خط السائقين في غرب سانتياغو وشاركت آراؤه بشكل دائم في النقاشات المتعلقة بالنقل والخدمات العامة، مما جعله شخصية مؤثرة في هذا القطاع.
