فيما دعت الخارجية الصينية، إيران وأمريكا إلى اغتنام فرصة المحادثات الجارية في الدوحة للتوصل إلى حل ينهي الحرب عبر الحوار، تبادلت طهران وواشنطن التهديدات اليوم (الثلاثاء)، عقب تنفيذ الولايات المتحدة هجوماً في بندر عباس الإيرانية.
وقال المتحدث باسم القيادة المركزية الأمريكية تيم هوكينز لشبكة «فوكس نيوز»: إن القوات الأمريكية نفذت ضربات «دفاعاً عن النفس» في جنوب إيران، أمس (الإثنين)، لحماية قواتها من التهديدات التي شكلتها القوات الإيرانية، موضحاً أن الأهداف شملت مواقع لإطلاق الصواريخ وقوارب إيرانية كانت تحاول زرع ألغام.
وأشار إلى أن القيادة المركزية تواصل الدفاع عن قواتها مع التحلي بضبط النفس خلال وقف إطلاق النار الجاري، فيما قال مسؤول آخر إنه تم تدمير قاربين واستهداف موقع لصواريخ أرض ـ جو في بندر عباس كان يستهدف الطائرات الحربية الأمريكية.
وأشار مسؤولون إلى أن هذه الضربات لا تعني انتهاء وقف إطلاق النار الهش الذي تم التوصل إليه الشهر الماضي.
من جهته، قال وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو للصحفيين: «دارت بعض المحادثات في قطر، وسنرى ما إذا كان بإمكاننا إحراز أي تقدم، وأعتقد أن هناك الكثير من النقاشات الدائرة حول نقاط محددة في الوثيقة الأولية، لذا سيستغرق الأمر بضعة أيام»، موضحاً أن التوصل إلى اتفاق مع طهران لا يزال ممكناً رغم الضربات الأمريكية الجديدة.
وأشار إلى أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أعرب عن رغبته في التوصل إلى اتفاق جيد، مشدداً بالقول: «يجب أن تكون المضائق مفتوحة، وستُفتح بأي شكل من الأشكال، لذلك ينبغي أن تظل مفتوحة».
في المقابل، قال الحرس الثوري الإيراني في بيان إن طهران تحتفظ بحق الرد على أي انتهاك أمريكي لوقف إطلاق النار، موضحاً أنه رصد طائرات معادية تدخل المجال الجوي الإيراني، زاعماً أنه أسقط مسيرة أمريكية من طراز (إم كيو-9 ريبر).
من جهة أخرى، قالت وزارة الخارجية الصينية اليوم: «ندعم باستمرار التوصل إلى حل سلمي للقضية النووية الإيرانية عبر الحوار والتفاوض، ونأمل أن تتوصل الأطراف المعنية بالمفاوضات إلى حل يراعي المخاوف المشروعة للجميع»، معربة عن استعداد بلادها لمواصلة القيام بدور بنّاء في الحل السياسي والدبلوماسي للقضية النووية الإيرانية.
While the Chinese Foreign Ministry called on Iran and the U.S. to seize the opportunity of the ongoing talks in Doha to reach a solution that ends the war through dialogue, Tehran and Washington exchanged threats today (Tuesday), following the U.S. executing an attack in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
U.S. Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins told Fox News that U.S. forces carried out strikes “in self-defense” in southern Iran yesterday (Monday) to protect their troops from threats posed by Iranian forces, explaining that the targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to lay mines.
He noted that Central Command continues to defend its forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire, while another official stated that two boats were destroyed and a surface-to-air missile site in Bandar Abbas that was targeting U.S. warplanes was hit.
Officials indicated that these strikes do not mean the end of the fragile ceasefire reached last month.
For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters: “Some talks have taken place in Qatar, and we will see if we can make any progress, and I think there are many discussions ongoing about specific points in the initial document, so it will take a few days,” clarifying that reaching an agreement with Tehran is still possible despite the new U.S. strikes.
He pointed out that U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed a desire to reach a good deal, emphasizing: “The straits must be open, and they will be opened in any way, so they should remain open.”
In contrast, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement that Tehran reserves the right to respond to any U.S. violation of the ceasefire, explaining that it detected hostile aircraft entering Iranian airspace, claiming to have shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone.
On another note, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said today: “We continuously support reaching a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation, and we hope that the parties involved in the negotiations can reach a solution that takes into account everyone’s legitimate concerns,” expressing its readiness to continue playing a constructive role in the political and diplomatic resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.
