دان الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية أحمد أبوالغيط، اليوم (الأربعاء)، الاعتداءات الإيرانية، التي استهدفت منشآت مدنية وحيوية في كل من الكويت والبحرين، مؤكداً أن هذه الاعتداءات تمثّل تصعيداً خطيراً يهدد أمن واستقرار منطقة الخليج العربي، ويخالف قواعد القانون الدولي والمواثيق الدولية ذات الصلة.
وقال أبوالغيط، في بيان صادر عن الأمانة العامة للجامعة العربية، إن الاعتداءات التي نُفذت باستخدام الصواريخ الباليستية والطائرات المسيّرة وأسفرت عن أضرار وإصابات، تمثّل انتهاكاً صارخاً لميثاق الأمم المتحدة واتفاقيات جنيف، داعياً إلى الوقف الفوري وغير المشروط لهذه الاعتداءات وتجنّب أي خطوات من شأنها توسيع دائرة الصراع في المنطقة.
وأكد الأمين العام تضامن الجامعة العربية الكامل مع دولتي الكويت والبحرين، ودعمها الإجراءات المشروعة كافة، التي تتخذها الدولتان للحفاظ على أمنهما وسيادتهما وسلامة أراضيهما وحماية مواطنيهما.
ويأتي الموقف العربي في وقت تواصل إيران انتهاكاتها للقرارات والمواثيق الدولية من خلال اعتداءاتها المتكررة على دول الخليج.
وكانت الكويت قد أعلنت أن اعتداء بطائرات مسيّرة وصواريخ إيرانية استهدف مبنى الركاب الرئيسي (Terminal 1) في مطار الكويت الدولي، مما أسفر عن مقتل شخص واحد وإصابة عشرات آخرين، إضافة إلى أضرار جسيمة في مرافق المطار وخزانات الوقود.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned today (Wednesday) the Iranian attacks that targeted civilian and vital facilities in both Kuwait and Bahrain, affirming that these attacks represent a serious escalation that threatens the security and stability of the Gulf region and violate the rules of international law and relevant international treaties.
Aboul Gheit stated in a statement issued by the Arab League’s General Secretariat that the attacks, which were carried out using ballistic missiles and drones and resulted in damage and injuries, constitute a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and the Geneva Conventions, calling for an immediate and unconditional halt to these attacks and avoiding any steps that could expand the scope of conflict in the region.
The Secretary-General affirmed the Arab League’s full solidarity with the states of Kuwait and Bahrain, supporting all legitimate measures taken by the two countries to maintain their security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and protect their citizens.
This Arab stance comes at a time when Iran continues its violations of international resolutions and treaties through its repeated attacks on Gulf states.
Kuwait had announced that an attack by Iranian drones and missiles targeted the main passenger terminal (Terminal 1) at Kuwait International Airport, resulting in one death and dozens of injuries, in addition to severe damage to airport facilities and fuel tanks.
