أعرب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش عن قلقه البالغ إزاء التقارير الواردة بشأن تبادل إطلاق النار بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، إضافة إلى الهجمات الإيرانية التي استهدفت الكويت والبحرين خلال الساعات الماضية.
وقال المتحدث باسم الأمين العام، ستيفان دوجاريك، في تصريح أمس (الأربعاء) إن غوتيريش يدعو جميع الأطراف إلى ممارسة أقصى درجات ضبط النفس، وتجنب أي تصعيد إضافي قد يقوض الجهود الدبلوماسية الجارية. كما شدد على ضرورة احترام سيادة جميع الدول وسلامة أراضيها.
وأدان الأمين العام جميع الهجمات على البنية التحتية المدنية، مؤكداً أن القانون الدولي الإنساني يحظر استهداف الأعيان المدنية. وحث جميع الأطراف على حماية المدنيين، وجدد دعمه لجهود الوساطة، خصوصاً تلك التي تقودها باكستان، داعياً إلى الانخراط البناء في الحوار الدبلوماسي.
يأتي بيان الأمم المتحدة في ظل تصعيد حاد في منطقة الخليج العربي ضمن سياق الحرب بين الولايات المتحدة/إسرائيل وإيران التي اندلعت في فبراير الماضي.
واستهدفت إيران أخيراً مطار الكويت الدولي بطائرات مسيّرة وصواريخ، ما أسفر عن قتيل وإصابة عشرات، وأضرار جسيمة في مرافق المطار، كما تعرضت البحرين لهجمات مشابهة.
وأجرت الولايات المتحدة ضربات على أهداف إيرانية مثل جزيرة قشم، وفرضت حصاراً بحرياً على الموانئ الإيرانية، مع استمرار التوتر في خليج عمان ومضيق هرمز.
و أدعى الحرس الثوري الإيراني استهداف مدمرة أمريكية، بينما نفت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم) ذلك بشكل قاطع، مؤكدة أن قواتها تعمل بأمان.
وأثار التصعيد مخاوف دولية من اتساع دائرة الصراع، مع تأثيرات اقتصادية (ارتفاع أسعار النفط) وإنسانية كبيرة. وتُعد دعوة غوتيريش جزءاً من موقف أممي متكرر يدين استهداف المدنيين ويطالب بالعودة إلى طاولة المفاوضات.
The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deep concern regarding reports of gunfire exchanges between the United States and Iran, in addition to Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain in the past hours.
UN Secretary-General spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated yesterday (Wednesday) that Guterres calls on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint and to avoid any further escalation that could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts. He also emphasized the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of all nations and the integrity of their territories.
The Secretary-General condemned all attacks on civilian infrastructure, affirming that international humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilian objects. He urged all parties to protect civilians and reiterated his support for mediation efforts, particularly those led by Pakistan, calling for constructive engagement in diplomatic dialogue.
The UN statement comes amid a sharp escalation in the Arabian Gulf region within the context of the war between the United States/Israel and Iran that erupted last February.
Recently, Iran targeted Kuwait International Airport with drones and missiles, resulting in one death and dozens of injuries, along with significant damage to airport facilities, while Bahrain faced similar attacks.
The United States conducted strikes on Iranian targets such as Qeshm Island and imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, as tensions continue in the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed to have targeted an American destroyer, while the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) categorically denied this, affirming that its forces are operating safely.
The escalation has raised international concerns about the widening of the conflict, with significant economic (rising oil prices) and humanitarian impacts. Guterres’ call is part of a recurring UN stance that condemns the targeting of civilians and demands a return to the negotiating table.
