كشفت منظمة الصحة العالمية عن تسجيل 344 إصابة مؤكدة بفايروس «إيبولا»، و60 حالة وفاة في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، إضافة إلى 15 إصابة مؤكدة وحالة وفاة واحدة في أوغندا.
وأكد المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية الدكتور تيدروس أدهانوم، أن الجهود المبذولة لاحتواء تفشي فايروس «إيبولا» من سلالة «بوديبوجيو» في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية تشهد تقدمًا ملموسًا.
وأوضح أن عدد الحالات المشتبه بها انخفض من أكثر من ألف حالة إلى 116 حالة، مع استمرار عمليات الفحص والتقصي الوبائي.
وأضاف أن مستوي الخطر لا يزال مرتفعًا إقليميًا، مشيرًا إلى ضعف تتبع المخالطين ومحدودية القدرات التشخيصية والقيود المفروضة على السفر.
وشدد على أن السيطرة على التفشي تتطلب دعم الجهود الرامية لتطوير اللقاحات والعلاجات.
The World Health Organization has reported 344 confirmed cases of the Ebola virus and 60 deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in addition to 15 confirmed cases and one death in Uganda.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, confirmed that the efforts to contain the outbreak of the Ebola virus from the “Boudibogio” strain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are making significant progress.
He explained that the number of suspected cases has decreased from over a thousand cases to 116 cases, with ongoing testing and epidemiological investigations.
He added that the level of risk remains high regionally, pointing to weak contact tracing, limited diagnostic capabilities, and travel restrictions.
He emphasized that controlling the outbreak requires support for efforts aimed at developing vaccines and treatments.
