أصيب شخصان بجروح وتضررت عشرات السفن، إثر اندلاع حريق هائل في ميناء “مانتا”، الذي يعد أحد أبرز موانئ الصيد الاستراتيجية المطلة على ساحل المحيط الهادئ في الإكوادور.
وأعلنت الأمانة الوطنية لإدارة المخاطر في الإكوادور نجاح فرق الإطفاء في السيطرة على الحريق ومحاصرة النيران، بعد أن تصاعدت أعمدة كثيفة من الدخان الأسود غطت سماء المنطقة، ووثقتها مقاطع مصورة جرى تداولها على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي.
ووفقاً للبيانات الأولية الصادرة عن السلطات الإكوادورية، فإن النيران اشتعلت في ما لا يقل عن 35 قارباً راسياً في الرصيف، معظمها من سفن الصيد الصغيرة والمتوسطة. وأرجعت مصادر الدفاع المدني سرعة انتشار اللهب إلى طبيعة المواد المستخدمة في صناعة هذه القوارب، وفي مقدمتها الألياف الزجاجية (الفيبرجلاس) الشديدة الاشتعال.
وفيما يتعلق بأسباب الحادث، أوضحت السلطات أن التحقيقات الرسمية لا تزال جارية لتحديد الملابسات الدقيقة. ومع ذلك، نقلت إدارة الإطفاء عن شهود عيان في الميناء إفادتهم بأن شرارة النيران الأولى اندلعت بالتزامن مع أعمال لحام وصيانة كانت تُجرى على متن أحد القوارب المتضررة قبل أن تمتد الكارثة إلى بقية السفن المجاورة.
Two people were injured and dozens of ships were damaged due to a massive fire that broke out at the “Manta” port, which is one of the most prominent strategic fishing ports along the Pacific coast of Ecuador.
The National Risk Management Secretariat in Ecuador announced the successful control of the fire by firefighting teams, who managed to contain the flames after thick columns of black smoke rose and covered the sky in the area, as documented in videos circulated on social media platforms.
According to preliminary data released by Ecuadorian authorities, the flames ignited in at least 35 boats docked at the pier, most of which were small and medium-sized fishing vessels. Civil defense sources attributed the rapid spread of the fire to the nature of the materials used in the construction of these boats, primarily the highly flammable fiberglass.
Regarding the causes of the incident, authorities clarified that official investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact circumstances. However, the fire department reported that eyewitnesses at the port stated that the initial spark of the fire broke out simultaneously with welding and maintenance work being conducted on one of the affected boats before the disaster spread to the neighboring vessels.
