أشعلت صفقة صواريخ أمريكية إلى كوريا الجنوبية بقيمة 300 مليون دولار، حفيظة بيونغ يانغ التي حذرت من أن هذه الخطوة تفاقم التوتر في شبه الجزيرة الكورية.
وأفادت وكالة الأنباء المركزية في كوريا الشمالية، اليوم (السبت)، بأن وزارة الخارجية نددت بموافقة الولايات المتحدة على بيع صواريخ جو-جو متطورة ومعدات ذات صلة إلى كوريا الجنوبية، محذرة من أن هذه الخطوة ستؤدي إلى تفاقم التوتر في شبه الجزيرة الكورية.
ونقلت الوكالة عن المدير العام للسياسة الخارجية بالوزارة في بيان قوله: إن التعاون العسكري بين واشنطن وسول يجري تعزيزه بصورة منهجية رغم ما وصفه بالقلق الدولي إزاء تصاعد التوتر في شبه الجزيرة الكورية ومحيطها.
ولفت المسؤول إلى موافقة الخارجية الأمريكية على بيع صواريخ جو-جو متطورة ومعدات ذات الصلة إلى كوريا الجنوبية بقيمة تقارب 300 مليون دولار باعتبارها أحدث مثال على ذلك.
وأكد أن صادرات الأسلحة الأمريكية هي صادرات حربية، مضيفاً أن كوريا الشمالية ستواصل تعزيز قوتها الرادعة للدفاع عن النفس للحفاظ على توازن القوى في المنطقة.
وتنتقد كوريا الشمالية باستمرار التعاون العسكري بين الولايات المتحدة وكوريا الجنوبية وتصفه بأنه استعداد للحرب.
وكانت وزارة الدفاع الكورية الجنوبية، أعلنت أن مسؤولين من الولايات المتحدة وكوريا الجنوبية عقدوا اجتماعاً في سول الخميس الماضي لمناقشة سبل تعزيز الردع النووي والجاهزية في مواجهة برنامج الأسلحة المتنامي لكوريا الشمالية، خلال محادثات عُقدت ضمن إطار المجموعة الاستشارية النووية بين البلدين.
وعقد الاجتماع وسط قلق متزايد من توسيع قدرات كوريا الشمالية على إنتاج مواد نووية صالحة لصنع الأسلحة، بعدما عرضت وسائل إعلام رسمية لقطات للزعيم كيم جونغ أون وهو يتفقد منشأة جديدة لإنتاج المواد النووية دخلت حيز التشغيل، ودعا إلى توسيع هائل لقوات بلاده النووية.
The $300 million deal for American missiles to South Korea has ignited the ire of Pyongyang, which warned that this step exacerbates tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The North Korean Central News Agency reported today (Saturday) that the Foreign Ministry condemned the United States’ approval of the sale of advanced air-to-air missiles and related equipment to South Korea, warning that this step would lead to increased tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The agency quoted the director general of foreign policy at the ministry in a statement saying that military cooperation between Washington and Seoul is being systematically strengthened despite what he described as international concerns over rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula and its surroundings.
The official pointed to the U.S. State Department’s approval of the sale of advanced air-to-air missiles and related equipment to South Korea for nearly $300 million as the latest example of this.
He affirmed that U.S. arms exports are military exports, adding that North Korea will continue to strengthen its deterrent power for self-defense to maintain the balance of power in the region.
North Korea continuously criticizes the military cooperation between the United States and South Korea, describing it as a preparation for war.
Last week, the South Korean Ministry of Defense announced that officials from the United States and South Korea held a meeting in Seoul on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance nuclear deterrence and readiness in response to North Korea’s growing weapons program, during talks held within the framework of the nuclear advisory group between the two countries.
The meeting took place amid increasing concerns over North Korea’s expanding capabilities to produce nuclear materials suitable for weaponry, after state media showcased footage of leader Kim Jong Un inspecting a new facility for nuclear material production that has come into operation, calling for a massive expansion of his country’s nuclear forces.
