كشف مصدر مطلع أبرز الملفات التي سيحملها رئيس الوزراء علي الزيدي خلال زيارته المرتقبة إلى واشنطن منتصف يوليو القادم.
وقال المصدر لـ«عكاظ»: «الزيدي سيزور العاصمة الأمريكية تلبية لدعوة من الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، ومن المقرر أن يجري سلسلة مباحثات تتناول عدداً من القضايا السياسية والأمنية والاقتصادية ذات الاهتمام المشترك».
وأفاد المصدر بأن في مقدمة الملفات المطروحة للنقاش الاتفاقية الأمنية المبرمة بين بغداد وواشنطن، وآليات سحب القوات الأمريكية بعد انتهاء المدد المحددة لوجودها في العراق، إلى جانب بحث مستقبل التعاون الأمني بين البلدين.
وأشار إلى أن «الجانب الاقتصادي سيحظى بحيز مهم من المباحثات، لاسيما ما يتعلق بمقترح تأسيس صندوق مالي عراقي في الولايات المتحدة يمول من إيرادات النفط العراقي المصدر إلى السوق الأمريكية، على أن يُخصص لدعم مشاريع التنمية الاقتصادية وتطوير البنى التحتية وتعزيز قطاع الطاقة الكهربائية ومعالجة الأزمات والتحديات المرتبطة به».
ولفت المصدر إلى أن «المباحثات ستتضمن أيضاً مناقشة توسيع آفاق الاستثمار والشراكة الاقتصادية الاستراتيجية بين العراق والولايات المتحدة، بما يسهم في خلق فرص عمل وتقليل معدلات البطالة ودعم النمو الاقتصادي».
وختم المصدر حديثه بالقول: «الزيدي سيرافقه خلال الزيارة وفد رفيع المستوى يضم عدداً من الوزراء والمستشارين الحكوميين للمشاركة في الاجتماعات واللقاءات المقررة مع المسؤولين الأمريكيين».
An informed source revealed the key issues that Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi will carry during his anticipated visit to Washington in mid-July.
The source told “Okaz”: “Al-Zaydi will visit the American capital in response to an invitation from President Donald Trump, and it is scheduled that he will hold a series of discussions addressing several political, security, and economic issues of mutual interest.”
The source indicated that at the forefront of the topics for discussion is the security agreement concluded between Baghdad and Washington, and the mechanisms for withdrawing American forces after the specified periods of their presence in Iraq, in addition to discussing the future of security cooperation between the two countries.
He pointed out that “the economic aspect will receive significant attention during the discussions, particularly regarding the proposal to establish an Iraqi financial fund in the United States funded by the revenues from Iraqi oil exported to the American market, which will be allocated to support economic development projects, enhance infrastructure, strengthen the electricity sector, and address the crises and challenges associated with it.”
The source noted that “the discussions will also include addressing the expansion of investment horizons and the strategic economic partnership between Iraq and the United States, which contributes to creating job opportunities, reducing unemployment rates, and supporting economic growth.”
The source concluded his remarks by saying: “Al-Zaydi will be accompanied during the visit by a high-level delegation that includes several ministers and government advisors to participate in the scheduled meetings and encounters with American officials.”
