برعاية كريمة من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، أطلق مركز الملك سلمان لأبحاث الإعاقة «هاكاثون الذكاء الاصطناعي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة»، ضمن فعاليات المؤتمر الدولي السابع للإعاقة والتأهيل، في مبادرة نوعية تتزامن مع «عام الذكاء الاصطناعي 2026»، وتجسد اهتمام المملكة العربية السعودية بتسخير التقنيات المتقدمة والابتكارات الحديثة لخدمة الإنسان وتمكين الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وتعزيز جودة حياتهم. يأتي تنظيم الهاكاثون امتدادًا للدور الريادي الذي يضطلع به المركز في دعم البحث العلمي والابتكار وتطوير الحلول المستدامة في مجال الإعاقة، من خلال توفير منصة تجمع الخبراء والباحثين والمبتكرين والمطورين ورواد الأعمال من داخل المملكة وخارجها، لتطوير حلول وتقنيات ذكية تسهم في مواجهة التحديات التي يواجهها الأشخاص ذوو الإعاقة وتعزيز فرص تمكينهم ومشاركتهم الفاعلة في المجتمع.
من جانبه، أكد المستشار الخاص لخادم الحرمين الشريفين ورئيس مجلس أمناء مركز الملك سلمان لأبحاث الإعاقة الأمير سلطان بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، أن إطلاق «هاكاثون الذكاء الاصطناعي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة» يجسد الدعم الكبير الذي توليه القيادة الرشيدة – أيدها الله – للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، وحرصها على تمكينهم من الاستفادة من التحولات التقنية المتسارعة والمشاركة الفاعلة في مسيرة التنمية الوطنية. وأضاف: «يشكل الذكاء الاصطناعي اليوم فرصة استثنائية لتطوير حلول مبتكرة تعزز الاستقلالية وترتقي بجودة الحياة للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، ونطمح من خلال هذا الهاكاثون إلى استقطاب المبدعين والمبتكرين وتوحيد جهودهم لتطوير حلول عملية ومستدامة ذات أثر ملموس، بما ينسجم مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030 ويعزز مكانة المملكة العالمية في مجالات الابتكار والتقنيات المتقدمة».
يهدف «هاكاثون الذكاء الاصطناعي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة» إلى تحفيز الابتكار وتطوير حلول نوعية قائمة على الذكاء الاصطناعي والتقنيات الناشئة والروبوتات والتقنيات المساندة، بما يعزز استقلالية الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة ويرتقي بجودة حياتهم، ويجسد في الوقت ذاته توجهات المملكة نحو تسخير التقنية لخدمة الإنسان وتعزيز منظومة الابتكار الوطني.
كما شهد الهاكاثون إقبالًا واسعًا منذ إطلاقه، حيث بلغ عدد المسجلين أكثر من 2,251 مشاركًا شكّلوا 918 فريقًا، توزعت مشاريعهم على أربعة مسارات رئيسة تشمل التقنيات المساعدة للحياة اليومية، والصحة والتأهيل، والتعليم والوصول إلى المعرفة، إضافة إلى تطوير حلول ذكية لتحسين تجربة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة في أداء مناسك الحج والعمرة.
ونظم «هاكاثون الذكاء الاصطناعي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة» سلسلة من ورش العمل التخصصية خلال الفترة من 14 إلى 22 يونيو 2026، تتناول أحدث التطبيقات في الروبوتات التأهيلية والتقنيات التعليمية الشاملة ومبادئ التصميم الشامل للذكاء الاصطناعي والروبوتات، بمشاركة خبراء وباحثين من جامعات ومؤسسات دولية، بما يسهم في بناء قدرات المشاركين وتحفيز تطوير حلول ابتكارية ذات أثر مستدام للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
ويشتمل الهاكاثون على برنامج تسريعي متخصص يمثل مرحلة ما بعد المنافسة، يهدف إلى تمكين الفرق الفائزة من تطوير نماذجها الأولية القائمة على الذكاء الاصطناعي والروبوتات وتحويلها إلى تقنيات مساندة قابلة للتطبيق والتوسع. ويقدم البرنامج حزمة من خدمات الإرشاد العلمي والتقني، وفرص التمويل والشراكات، بما يعزز استدامة المشاريع ويسهم في تحويل الابتكارات الواعدة إلى حلول عملية ذات أثر ملموس في حياة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن المشاركات تراجَع عن طريق تحكيم علمي متخصص وفق معايير تشمل مستوى الابتكار والأثر المتوقع والجدوى التقنية وقابلية التطبيق والاستدامة وجودة النموذج الأولي، بما يضمن اختيار أفضل الحلول القادرة على إحداث أثر إيجابي ملموس ومستدام، ومن المقرر أن تُعرض المشاريع المتأهلة وتُعلن النتائج النهائية خلال انعقاد المؤتمر الدولي السابع للإعاقة والتأهيل بمدينة الرياض في أكتوبر 2026م، بمشاركة نخبة من الخبراء والباحثين والمتخصصين وصناع القرار من مختلف دول العالم، بما يعزز مكانة المؤتمر بوصفه إحدى أبرز المنصات الدولية المعنية بقضايا الإعاقة والتأهيل والابتكار التقني.
Under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King Salman Center for Disability Research launched the “Artificial Intelligence Hackathon for Persons with Disabilities” as part of the activities of the Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation. This initiative coincides with the “Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026” and embodies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to harnessing advanced technologies and modern innovations to serve humanity, empower persons with disabilities, and enhance their quality of life. The organization of the hackathon extends the pioneering role of the center in supporting scientific research, innovation, and the development of sustainable solutions in the field of disability by providing a platform that brings together experts, researchers, innovators, developers, and entrepreneurs from within the Kingdom and abroad to develop smart solutions and technologies that contribute to addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and enhancing their empowerment and active participation in society.
For his part, the Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, confirmed that the launch of the “Artificial Intelligence Hackathon for Persons with Disabilities” reflects the significant support that the wise leadership – may God protect it – provides to persons with disabilities, and its keenness to enable them to benefit from the rapid technological transformations and actively participate in the national development journey. He added, “Artificial intelligence today represents an exceptional opportunity to develop innovative solutions that enhance independence and improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. Through this hackathon, we aspire to attract creative and innovative individuals and unify their efforts to develop practical and sustainable solutions with a tangible impact, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and to enhance the Kingdom’s global position in the fields of innovation and advanced technologies.”
The “Artificial Intelligence Hackathon for Persons with Disabilities” aims to stimulate innovation and develop quality solutions based on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, robotics, and assistive technologies, thereby enhancing the independence of persons with disabilities and improving their quality of life. It simultaneously embodies the Kingdom’s direction towards harnessing technology to serve humanity and enhancing the national innovation ecosystem.
The hackathon has witnessed wide participation since its launch, with over 2,251 registered participants forming 918 teams. Their projects are distributed across four main tracks, including assistive technologies for daily living, health and rehabilitation, education and access to knowledge, in addition to developing smart solutions to improve the experience of persons with disabilities in performing the rituals of Hajj and Umrah.
The “Artificial Intelligence Hackathon for Persons with Disabilities” organized a series of specialized workshops from June 14 to June 22, 2026, addressing the latest applications in rehabilitation robotics, inclusive educational technologies, and principles of universal design for artificial intelligence and robotics, with the participation of experts and researchers from international universities and institutions, contributing to building the capabilities of participants and stimulating the development of innovative solutions with a sustainable impact for persons with disabilities.
The hackathon includes a specialized acceleration program representing the post-competition phase, aimed at enabling the winning teams to develop their prototypes based on artificial intelligence and robotics and transform them into applicable and scalable assistive technologies. The program offers a package of scientific and technical mentoring services, funding opportunities, and partnerships, enhancing the sustainability of projects and contributing to transforming promising innovations into practical solutions with a tangible impact on the lives of persons with disabilities.
It is worth noting that submissions are evaluated through specialized scientific judging according to criteria that include the level of innovation, expected impact, technical feasibility, applicability, sustainability, and quality of the prototype, ensuring the selection of the best solutions capable of making a positive and sustainable impact. The qualified projects will be showcased, and the final results will be announced during the Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation in Riyadh in October 2026, with the participation of a select group of experts, researchers, specialists, and decision-makers from various countries around the world, enhancing the conference’s status as one of the most prominent international platforms concerned with disability, rehabilitation, and technological innovation issues.
