في لقطة لفتت الأنظار على هامش مباراة مصر وبلجيكا في افتتاح المجموعة السابعة من كأس العالم، قدّم رئيس الفيفا جياني إنفانتينو هدية خاصة تحمل اسم الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي إلى رئيس الاتحاد المصري وعضو مجلس الفيفا هاني أبو ريدة.
الهدية كانت درعًا وتذكارًا رسميًا لكأس العالم 2026، وقدّمها إنفانتينو تعبيرًا عن تقديره لما وصفه بـ«الطفرة الكبيرة» التي شهدتها الرياضة المصرية في السنوات الأخيرة، خصوصًا في كرة القدم.
وأشاد رئيس الفيفا بأداء المنتخب المصري في مباراته الأولى، مؤكدًا أن ما شاهده من تطور خلال زيارته الأخيرة لمصر كان «ملحوظًا ومبهجًا».
ولم يتوقف تبادل الهدايا عند هذا الحد، إذ ردّ أبو ريدة بإهداء إنفانتينو ورئيسة الاتحاد البلجيكي باسكال فان دام تمثالًا لتوت عنخ آمون وقميص المنتخب المصري، في مشهد جمع بين الدبلوماسية الرياضية واللمسة الحضارية المصرية المعتادة.
ورغم أن الفراعنة قدّموا أداءً قويًا أمام بلجيكا، فإن المباراة انتهت بالتعادل 1-1، في نتيجة تركت الجماهير بين الرضا والطموح الأكبر.
In a striking moment on the sidelines of the match between Egypt and Belgium during the opening of Group G of the World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented a special gift bearing the name of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to the President of the Egyptian Football Association and FIFA Council member Hani Abu Rida.
The gift was a trophy and an official souvenir of the 2026 World Cup, which Infantino presented as a gesture of appreciation for what he described as the “great leap” that Egyptian sports has witnessed in recent years, especially in football.
The FIFA President praised the performance of the Egyptian national team in their first match, confirming that what he observed in terms of development during his recent visit to Egypt was “notable and delightful.”
The exchange of gifts did not stop there, as Abu Rida reciprocated by gifting Infantino and Belgian Football Association President Pascal Van Dam a statue of Tutankhamun and a jersey of the Egyptian national team, in a scene that combined sports diplomacy with the usual Egyptian cultural touch.
Although the Pharaohs delivered a strong performance against Belgium, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that left fans feeling both satisfied and aspiring for more.
