كرّم المنتخب الفرنسي قائده كيليان مبابي بعد أن أصبح الهداف التاريخي لـ«الديوك» برصيد 58 هدفاً، متجاوزاً الرقم السابق لأوليفييه جيرو، وذلك عقب تسجيله ثنائية حاسمة في شباك السنغال ضمن الجولة الافتتاحية لدور المجموعات في كأس العالم 2026
وصل مبابي إلى 58 هدفاً دولياً في 99 مباراة فقط، متخطياً أساطير فرنسا مثل جيرو (57)، وتييري هنري (51)، وأنطوان غريزمان (44).
وواصل مبابي توهجه في المونديال إذ رفع رصيده إلى 14 هدفاً في كأس العالم، معادلاً رقم الألماني غيرد مولر، وبحاجة إلى تسجيل 3 أهداف لاعتلاء قمة الهداف التاريخي لكأس العالم.
وقبل مواجهة أذربيجان في تصفيات كأس العالم FIFA 2026™، سُئل كيليان مبابي عن إمكانية تحطيم الرقم القياسي لأكبر عدد من الأهداف بقميص منتخب فرنسا، والمسجل باسم أوليفييه جيرو منذ كأس العالم قطر 2022. ورد المهاجم الفرنسي حينها قائلاً: «أعتقد أنني سأتجاوزه. متى؟ لا أعرف، ولا أفكر في الأمر كثيرًا. سيحدث ذلك بشكل طبيعي، وسأكون سعيدًا حينها، ثم سأركز على ما هو أهم».
ورغم تأكيده في ذلك الوقت أن تركيزه كان منصبًا على ضمان التأهل إلى كأس العالم، وهو ما تحقق بعد جولتين، فإن مبابي بات اليوم يحتفل بإنجازٍ طال انتظاره، بعدما أصبح الهداف التاريخي لمنتخب فرنسا، رغم أنه لم يصل بعد إلى حاجز 100 مباراة دولية، وذلك بعد تسجيله هدفين في شباك السنغال على أرضية نيويورك نيوجيرسي ستيديوم، ليعادل رقم جيرو، ثم يتجاوزه بالوصول إلى الهدف رقم 58.
ويزداد هذا الإنجاز أهمية عند النظر إلى عدد المباريات التي احتاجها لتحقيقه، إذ بلغ هذا الرقم في 99 مباراة دولية فقط، مقابل 129 مباراة احتاجها أوليفييه جيرو للوصول إلى الرصيد ذاته. وللمقارنة، فإن كريستيانو رونالدو وليونيل ميسي، اللذين يتصدران قائمة الهدافين الدوليين عبر التاريخ، بلغا حاجز 57 هدفًا دوليًا بعد 126 و116 مباراة على التوالي.
وقد افتتح مبابي سجله التهديفي مع المنتخب الفرنسي في 31 أغسطس 2017، عندما سجل في الوقت بدل الضائع خلال الفوز 4-0 على هولندا في ملعب فرنسا. ومنذ ذلك الحين، واصل مهاجم ريال مدريد هز الشباك في مختلف المسابقات الدولية الكبرى. وتتضمن حصيلته هدفًا في انتصار فرنسا على كرواتيا في نهائي كأس العالم 2018، إلى جانب ثلاثيته الشهيرة في نهائي نسخة 2022 أمام الأرجنتين، في مباراة تاريخية انتهت بخسارة الديوك بركلات الترجيح.
وبعد أن أصبح الهداف التاريخي لباريس سان جيرمان برصيد 256 هدفًا في 308 مباريات بمختلف المسابقات، بات كيليان مبابي يحمل الرقم القياسي أيضًا مع منتخب فرنسا، فيما يطمح بالوصول لنهائي كأس العالم للمرة الثالثة، مع محاولة تحقيق اللقب للمرة الثانية في تاريخه، حيث قال بعد المباراة في تصريحٍ مقتضب: «ألعب لأترك بصمتي في تاريخ بلادي، ولأقود فريقي إلى النهائي والتتويج بكأس العالم. أما كل ما عدا ذلك، فسيكون مجرد جزء من شخصيتي ومسيرتي».

Mbappé reached 58 international goals in just 99 matches, surpassing French legends such as Giroud (57), Thierry Henry (51), and Antoine Griezmann (44).
Mbappé continued to shine in the World Cup, raising his tally to 14 goals in the tournament, equaling the record of German legend Gerd Müller, and needing to score 3 more goals to claim the title of all-time top scorer in World Cup history.
Before facing Azerbaijan in the FIFA World Cup 2026™ qualifiers, Kylian Mbappé was asked about the possibility of breaking the record for the most goals scored in the French national team, a record held by Olivier Giroud since the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The French striker responded at the time, saying: “I think I will surpass it. When? I don’t know, and I don’t think about it much. It will happen naturally, and I will be happy then, and then I will focus on what is more important.”
Despite confirming at that time that his focus was on ensuring qualification for the World Cup, which was achieved after two rounds, Mbappé is now celebrating a long-awaited achievement after becoming the all-time top scorer for the French national team, even though he has not yet reached the milestone of 100 international matches, after scoring two goals against Senegal at the New York New Jersey Stadium, equaling Giroud’s record and then surpassing it by reaching 58 goals.
This achievement becomes even more significant when considering the number of matches he needed to achieve it, as he reached this number in just 99 international matches, compared to the 129 matches Olivier Giroud needed to reach the same tally. For comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who top the list of international goal scorers in history, reached the 57-goal mark after 126 and 116 matches, respectively.
Mbappé opened his scoring account with the French national team on August 31, 2017, when he scored in stoppage time during a 4-0 victory over the Netherlands at the Stade de France. Since then, the Real Madrid striker has continued to find the net in various major international competitions. His tally includes a goal in France’s victory over Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final, along with his famous hat-trick in the 2022 final against Argentina, in a historic match that ended with the “Les Bleus” losing on penalties.
After becoming the all-time top scorer for Paris Saint-Germain with 256 goals in 308 matches across all competitions, Kylian Mbappé now also holds the record with the French national team, as he aims to reach the World Cup final for the third time, while trying to win the title for the second time in his career. After the match, he stated briefly: “I play to leave my mark in the history of my country, and to lead my team to the final and win the World Cup. Everything else will just be part of my personality and my journey.”
