دافع مدرب منتخب البرتغال «روبرتو مارتينيز» عن قراراته الفنية عقب تعادل فريقه أمام جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، مؤكداً أن إخراج النجم كريستيانو رونالدو في مثل هذه المباريات لا يحمل أي منطق.
وقال مارتينيز في تصريحات عقب اللقاء: «لا معنى لإخراج كريستيانو، أفضل هداف في تاريخ كرة القدم، في مباراة تحتاج فيها إلى أهداف». وأضاف: «عندما تبحث عن الأهداف، فأنت تحتاج إلى وجود كريستيانو داخل الملعب».
وتأتي تصريحات المدرب البرتغالي لتؤكد ثقته الكبيرة في قائد المنتخب، رغم تعثر البرتغال بالتعادل، حيث لا يزال رونالدو يمثل السلاح الأبرز هجومياً بفضل خبرته الكبيرة وحاسته التهديفية الاستثنائية، خصوصاً في المباريات التي تتطلب حسم الفرص وترجمتها إلى أهداف.
