أكّد نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس اليوم (الخميس)، أن واشنطن «جاهزة لكل السيناريوهات إذا لم تلتزم طهران بتعهداتها»، موضحاً أن إيران ملتزمة بالاتفاق مع الولايات المتحدة حتى الآن.
وقال فانس، خلال مؤتمر صحافي، إن إيران عليها الالتزام بتعهداتها إذا أرادت علاقات عالمية طبيعية، موضحاً أن 12.5 مليون برميل نفط عبروا مضيق هرمز الليلة الماضية.
وأشار إلى أن ذلك يعد «أعلى مستوى منذ بداية الصراع» مع إيران، مبيناً أن السبيل الوحيد لحصول الإيرانيين على أي مزايا اقتصادية هو الامتثال الكامل لما نتفق عليه وتغيير سلوكهم.
وحول انتهاكات الاتفاق عسكرياً، قال فانس: «على الجانب العسكري، لم يطلق الإيرانيون النار على أي سفن في مضيق هرمز لليلة الثانية على التوالي، لذلك، حتى الآن، هم يلتزمون بجانبهم من التعهدات»، مضيفاً: «أما فيما يتعلق بالحصار البحري، فقد سمحت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية بمرور أكثر من عشر سفن، وبذلك، نحن أيضاً نلتزم بجانبنا من المرحلة الأولى للاتفاق على الصعيد العسكري».
وشدد فانس بالقول: «ما حدث حتى الآن انتصار للشعب الأمريكي وللرئيس ترمب بغض النظر عما سيفعله الإيرانيون»، مجدداً تأكيده على أن الولايات المتحدة لن تقدم أي أموال أو ترفع عقوبات حتى ترى من الإيرانيين السلوك المطلوب.
وأكّد التزام واشنطن بتنفيذ جانبها من المرحلة الأولية للاتفاق، مبيناً أن فترة الـ60 يوماً المنصوص عليها في مذكرة التفاهم مع إيران بدأت اليوم.
وفيما يخص السلاح النووي، قال فانس: «في إطار أي اتفاق نهائي سنحرص على ألا تكون إيران قادرة على امتلاك سلاح نووي أو تمويل الإرهاب»، مبيناً أن اقتصاد إيران في وضع صعب للغاية وهي بحاجة لتغيير سلوكها كي تندمج مجدداً في الاقتصاد العالمي.
وأشار نائب الرئيس الأمريكي إلى استمرار الحصار الاقتصادي الخانق على إيران قائلاً: «نفرض حصاراً اقتصادياً خانقاً على إيران ولن ننهي ذلك ما لم تغير سلوكها جذرياً».
وذكر فانس أن قدرات إيران العسكرية التقليدية لا تزال مدمرة وقدرتها على تهديد جيرانها تلاشت إلى حد كبير، مشدداً بالقول: «سنرى ما إذا كان الإيرانيون مستعدين للامتثال للخطوة التالية من خطة الرئيس ترمب للسلام».
وحول خطة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب القادمة، قال فانس: «نعتزم تقديم إحاطة للكونغرس قريباً بشأن مذكرة التفاهم مع إيران».
وحول الاجتماع المرتقب غداً في سويسراً وإمكانية حضوره، قال فانس: «أخطط لزيارة سويسرا لكن لا أعرف الموعد المحدد بعد»، مضيفاً: زيارتي لسويسرا تعتمد على وصول الوفد الإيراني وقد تكون الأحد.
ولفت إلى أنهم سيعيدون فرض العقوبات ضد إيران في أي وقت إذا لم تحسن التصرف.
ولفت إلى أن الحصار البحري كان مفيدا وتم رفعه مقابل فتح مضيق هرمز، موضحاً أن إيران تعهدت بالسماح بوصول المفتشين وتفعيل آليات التحقق.
وأضاف: «لا نثق بالأقوال لذلك لن نكافئ إيران بشيء قبل الالتزام بتعهداتها»، موضحاً أنه يمكن رفع العقوبات عن إيران مؤقتا من دون موافقة الكونغرس.
وفيما يتعلق ببقاء القوات الأمريكية، قال نائب الرئيس الأمريكي: «لا نريد إبقاء قواتنا بمحيط إيران لكن ذلك يعتمد على التزامها»، مشدداً على ضرورة أن تفي إيران بتعهداتها بالتخلص من مخزون اليورانيوم.
وتوقع فانس إيقاف حزب الله إطلاق الصواريخ على إسرائيل، قائلاً: «نتوقع من حزب الله ألا يطلق صواريخ ومسيرات على إسرائيل، ومن إسرائيل أن تكف عن العربدة في لبنان»، مضيفاً: «نريد تمكين الحكومة اللبنانية للحد من تهديدات حزب الله».
ولفت إلى أن الهجمات الإسرائيلية على المدنيين في بيروت غير مقبولة، مطالباً إسرائيل احترام عملية السلام الجارية.
وأفصح عن غضب ترمب من الهجمات الإسرائيلية على لبنان قائلاً: «الرئيس ترمب شعر بالإحباط تجاه هجمات إسرائيل على بيروت»، مبيناً أنهم يتحدثون مع الإسرائيليين باستمرار والرئيس كان واضحا معهم.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed today (Thursday) that Washington is “prepared for all scenarios if Tehran does not adhere to its commitments,” explaining that Iran has so far complied with the agreement with the United States.
Vance stated during a press conference that Iran must adhere to its commitments if it wants normal global relations, noting that 12.5 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz last night.
He pointed out that this is “the highest level since the beginning of the conflict” with Iran, indicating that the only way for Iranians to gain any economic benefits is through full compliance with what we agree upon and changing their behavior.
Regarding military violations of the agreement, Vance said: “On the military side, the Iranians have not fired on any ships in the Strait of Hormuz for the second consecutive night, so, so far, they are adhering to their side of the commitments,” adding: “As for the naval blockade, the U.S. Central Command has allowed more than ten ships to pass, thus, we are also adhering to our side of the first phase of the agreement on the military front.”
Vance emphasized by saying: “What has happened so far is a victory for the American people and for President Trump, regardless of what the Iranians will do,” reiterating that the United States will not provide any money or lift sanctions until it sees the required behavior from the Iranians.
He confirmed Washington’s commitment to implementing its part of the initial phase of the agreement, indicating that the 60-day period stipulated in the memorandum of understanding with Iran began today.
Regarding nuclear weapons, Vance said: “As part of any final agreement, we will ensure that Iran is not able to possess nuclear weapons or fund terrorism,” explaining that Iran’s economy is in a very difficult position and it needs to change its behavior to reintegrate into the global economy.
The U.S. Vice President noted the continuation of the suffocating economic blockade on Iran, stating: “We are imposing a suffocating economic blockade on Iran and we will not end it unless it radically changes its behavior.”
Vance mentioned that Iran’s conventional military capabilities remain destructive and its ability to threaten its neighbors has largely diminished, stressing: “We will see if the Iranians are ready to comply with the next step of President Trump’s peace plan.”
Regarding President Donald Trump’s upcoming plan, Vance said: “We intend to provide a briefing to Congress soon regarding the memorandum of understanding with Iran.”
Regarding the anticipated meeting tomorrow in Switzerland and the possibility of his attendance, Vance said: “I plan to visit Switzerland, but I do not know the exact date yet,” adding: “My visit to Switzerland depends on the arrival of the Iranian delegation and it may be on Sunday.”
He noted that they will reimpose sanctions against Iran at any time if it does not improve its behavior.
He pointed out that the naval blockade was beneficial and was lifted in exchange for opening the Strait of Hormuz, explaining that Iran has committed to allowing inspectors to access and activating verification mechanisms.
He added: “We do not trust words, so we will not reward Iran with anything before it adheres to its commitments,” explaining that sanctions on Iran can be temporarily lifted without Congressional approval.
Regarding the presence of U.S. forces, the U.S. Vice President said: “We do not want to keep our forces around Iran, but that depends on its compliance,” stressing the need for Iran to fulfill its commitments to eliminate its stockpile of uranium.
Vance expected Hezbollah to stop launching missiles at Israel, saying: “We expect Hezbollah not to launch missiles and drones at Israel, and for Israel to stop its provocations in Lebanon,” adding: “We want to empower the Lebanese government to limit Hezbollah’s threats.”
He noted that Israeli attacks on civilians in Beirut are unacceptable, calling on Israel to respect the ongoing peace process.
He revealed Trump’s anger over Israeli attacks on Lebanon, saying: “President Trump felt frustrated with Israel’s attacks on Beirut,” indicating that they are in constant talks with the Israelis and the president has been clear with them.
