The days are swift, and as its clock and programs take shape, they reveal the beauty of that speed. For example, eight years have passed since the inception of the Falcon and Hunting Exhibition, an exhibition that establishes the value of things, whether they are human, animal, or related to hunting returns. The numbers in major events sometimes reveal the scale of work and achievement. For instance, when a specialized exhibition transitions from around 120,000 visitors in its first year to over 764,000 visitors in just eight years, the question is not how many visitors there were, but what changed to expand the circle in this way?
The Saudi International Falcon and Hunting Exhibition began in 2018 with an attendance of about 120,000 visitors. In the following year, the number rose to 350,000, then exceeded half a million visitors in the subsequent years, reaching over 649,000 in 2024, and more than 700,000 in 2025, before recording over 764,000 visitors in 2026 over ten days, which is the highest number in its history so far. These figures do not only reflect the growth of an annual event but also indicate a larger transformation in the nature of the exhibition and the audience it now addresses.
Specialized exhibitions usually begin with an interested community, and in the case of falcons and hunting, falconers and those interested in hunting and its requirements were the closest circle. However, remaining within this circle would have imposed a natural ceiling on growth. Therefore, the experience of the exhibition over the past years deserves to be viewed from a different angle: how can an event that is very specific in its identity expand to become a destination that attracts hundreds of thousands, without abandoning the reason for its inception?
Part of the answer can be seen in the way the experience around the falcon has expanded. The exhibition is no longer a place where visitors come only to see falcons or buy their necessities; it has become a space where multiple interests intersect related to hunting, trips, adventure, heritage, arts, crafts, business, and knowledge. With each new circle, there is a new audience that finds a reason to enter, while the falcon remains at the center of the scene.
The figures for this year reveal the extent of this expansion more clearly. The exhibition was held over an area of 200,000 square meters and attracted more than 1,446 exhibitors and brands from 47 countries, alongside the participation of 44 government entities. These numbers place audience growth alongside the growth of space and international participation, illustrating how the circle has expanded from a specialized exhibition to an event that brings together falconry, hunting, trips, adventures, heritage, culture, and business under one roof.
This type of growth is more challenging than it appears because increasing the number of events does not necessarily guarantee an increase in the value of the event. It can sometimes lead to a loss of identity if the additions become separate elements that lack a clear context. However, sustainable growth is the one that expands the experience from within the original idea, so that the visitor feels that the diversity they see belongs to one world, no matter how different its details are.
From here, the transition from 120,000 visitors to over 764,000 can be understood as a result of the expanding relationship between the exhibition and the community. Some come as falconers or hunting enthusiasts, while others are drawn by trips, vehicles, crafts, and arts. There are families and youth looking for a different experience, and there are those who enter out of curiosity and leave with greater knowledge about falconry and its significance. As these circles accumulate, the event becomes part of the social, entertainment, and cultural calendar of the capital, rather than a date confined to its specialized audience.
In this year’s exhibition slogan, “A Destination for All,” we find the true meaning of what has happened. If read in the context of the exhibition’s journey, it seems to describe the transformation that has occurred in its audience. It started from a specialized space and then began to open new doors year after year, until people of different ages and interests can find within it what leads them to the experience. Importantly, these doors must remain connected to the identity that created the exhibition from the beginning.
Eight years is a short duration in the lifespan of major events, but it has been sufficient to change the scale of the Falcon and Hunting Exhibition and the nature of its presence. What has happened cannot be reduced to a successful campaign, a larger space, or a more diverse program; it is the result of a continuous evolution in the concept of the event itself and its ability to expand its audience year after year.
And if I were to conclude this article, I would affirm that we live a life of luxury, security, and joy despite the circumstances we are going through, and yet nothing that brings joy has stopped.
