اعترف لاعب الاتحاد ريتشارد ريوس بأفضلية شباب الأهلي في الشوط الأول، عقب خسارة فريقه أمام ضيفه شباب الأهلي الإماراتي بنتيجة (2-1)، في المواجهة التي جمعتهما على ملعب مدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية بجدة، ضمن الجولة الثانية من منافسات منطقة الغرب في دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة 2026-2027، وقال: «كانوا أفضل منا ذهنياً وبدنياً، واستقبلنا هدفين سريعين لم يكن من المفترض أن يحدثا على أرضنا».
وأضاف صاحب هدف الاتحاد الوحيد: «كان علينا أن نكون أقوى وأن نحقق الفوز على ملعبنا وبين جماهيرنا».
وتابع: «دخلنا الشوط الثاني بعقلية إيجابية وصنعنا الفارق، وكان يجب أن نظهر بهذه العقلية منذ البداية».
وختم ريوس حديثه: «علينا الآن مواصلة العمل والتعافي سريعاً والاستعداد للمباراة القادمة لتعويض ما فات».

He added, the scorer of Al-Ittihad’s only goal: “We should have been stronger and secured the win on our home ground among our fans.”
He continued: “We entered the second half with a positive mindset and made a difference; we should have shown this mentality from the start.”
Rios concluded his remarks: “We now need to continue working, recover quickly, and prepare for the next match to make up for what we missed.”
