The English club Chelsea announced yesterday (Friday) that their captain Reece James underwent knee surgery after sustaining an injury during team training.
The club stated in a statement on its official website that Reece James had a successful minor surgery on his knee and has already begun his recovery journey, receiving support from the club’s medical department during the rehabilitation phase.
Duration of Absence
Chelsea did not disclose the duration of their captain’s absence, but the “Daily Mail” reported that James will be out of action for 3 months, noting that the London club will not rush his return and will ensure his complete recovery before resuming his participation.
Unfortunate History of Injuries
The newspaper explained that James has an unfortunate history of injuries, largely due to issues with his hamstrings, which is why coach Xabi Alonso has been working on converting him into a midfielder instead of a right-back.
842 Days of Absence
The “Blues” captain has been absent from the pitch for 842 days, according to “Transfermarkt,” since joining Chelsea’s first team in the 2019-2020 season. This duration equals 2.31 years or 99 matches with his club and national team.
