The Houthi militia continues to bombard populated villages in Jabal Saber south of Taiz for the second consecutive day with all types of weapons and missiles amidst suspicious international and UN silence.
Local residents in Jabal Saber told “Okaz”: that there are more than six dead, including children, in the ongoing Houthi shelling of the village of Kahlān, indicating that the residents of that village are facing deliberate extermination by the Houthi militia.
One citizen said: “For more than two hours, the intense shelling has not stopped above our heads. Entire families have been wiped out under the rubble, all of them women and children, and there are dozens of injured, including a girl who is bleeding and in critical condition. We could not reach ambulances, clinics, or hospitals.”
He added: “The wounded are bleeding to death, and Houthi snipers continue to directly target the village, including vehicles and even sources of light. We could not illuminate our homes,” appealing to the United Nations, its envoy, and international organizations to intervene to stop the Houthi genocide against civilians.
At the same time, the Houthi militia shelled a mosque and a school in the village of Al-Najd in the district of Mashra’a and Hadnan south of Taiz, resulting in significant material damage.
The Yemeni news agency “Saba” reported a local source stating that the militia targeted the Omar Al-Tayyār mosque and school in the village of Al-Najd with several shells, causing substantial damage to both.
In the context of the Houthi war on civilians in Taiz, Yemeni media revealed a mass Houthi retreat from the fronts in Taiz, leading to clashes between the fleeing elements and Houthi militants.
The “Khabar” news agency reported local sources saying that armed clashes erupted between a patrol of what is called the “Emergency Forces” and other elements of the so-called “Military Police” affiliated with the militia at the Shuban checkpoint located south of the city of Ibb, after members of the military police checkpoint detained elements of the Emergency Forces who were trying to flee from the battle fronts in Taiz Governorate.
Sources reported that the Emergency Police reinforced their units and attacked the security checkpoint, and the tension lasted for several hours amidst mutual reinforcements, with no immediate statistics available on the extent of human losses from both sides, but the intervention of senior Houthi leaders imposed a ceasefire between the two forces.
