طالب سكان محافظة ظهران الجنوب الجهات المختصة، بإعادة سفلتة الشوارع الرئيسية والفرعية وتأهيل الطرق المتهالكة، مؤكدين، أن عدداً منها يعاني منذ سنوات طويلة من التشققات والتصدعات والحفر، التي تعيق حركة المركبات وتلحق بها أضراراً متكررة، خصوصاً عند مدخل حي المستشفى الجنوبي، الذي يخدم السكان ومراجعي المستشفى وسيارات الإسعاف.
وأوضح الأهالي لـ«عكاظ»، أن تدهور الطبقة الأسفلتية يزيد من خطورة الطرق مع هطول الأمطار، إذ تتحول الحفر إلى تجمعات مائية تعيق رؤية السائقين وتزيد احتمالات تعرض المركبات للأضرار، مطالبين الجهات المعنية بالوقوف ميدانياً على المواقع المتضررة، ومعالجة الحفر والتشققات، وإعادة تأهيل الطرق بما يتناسب مع كثافة الحركة المرورية وأهميتها.
مدخل المستشفى
وقال خالد صالح مشعوف: إن الطريق الجنوبي لحي المستشفى يُعد مدخلاً حيوياً للسكان وسيارات الإسعاف التي تنقل المصابين والمرضى إلى مستشفى المحافظة، مشيراً إلى أن مئات المركبات تعبره يومياً، في حين أصبحت طبقته الأسفلتية ضعيفة ومتهالكة، وتحتاج إلى إعادة سفلتة ومعالجة شاملةً للحفر والتشققات.
وطالب بسرعة التدخل وتأهيل الطريق بما يتناسب مع أهميته وحجم الحركة المرورية عليه، خصوصاً أنه يخدم سكان الحي ويربطه بالأحياء السكنية الأخرى والدوائر الحكومية.
من جهته، أبدى محمد صالح السحامي، استغرابه من الحالة التي وصل إليها الطريق، خصوصاً عند مدخل الحي، موضحاً أن الطبقة الأسفلتية تحولت إلى حفر وتشققات تعيق حركة المركبات، وتجعل القيادة فيه أقرب إلى السير في طريق وعر، رغم كونه طريقاً معبداً.
طريق دولي متهالك
وفي سياق متصل، دعا عوض علي حجراف، الجهات المختصة، سواء إدارة الطرق بمنطقة عسير أو بلدية المحافظة، إلى سرعة إعادة سفلتة الطريق العام الذي يربط ظهران الجنوب بمنطقة نجران، مشيراً إلى أن تهالكه يشكل خطراً على مستخدميه، خصوصاً الشاحنات والناقلات التي تعبره إلى جانب أعداد كبيرة من المركبات يومياً.
وأكد، أن الطبقة الأسفلتية لم تعد تتحمل حجم الحركة المرورية على الطريق، مطالباً بإعادة تأهيله بما يضمن سلامة العابرين ويحافظ على المركبات.
بدوره، أشار عوض فرحان الوادعي، إلى الأهمية الإستراتيجية لموقع ظهران الجنوب الرابط بين منطقتي عسير ونجران، وما تشهده طرقها من حركة مرورية مستمرة، مؤكداً أهمية متابعة المشاريع والرقابة الدقيقة على مراحل التنفيذ من الجهات المشرفة، لضمان جودة الأعمال وتلافي عيوب التنفيذ التي قد تؤدي إلى تدهور الطرق.
رصيف غائب يهدد المشاة
ولم تقتصر مطالب الأهالي على السفلتة، إذ طالبوا بإعادة إنشاء الرصيف الذي أُزيل شرق حي المدرسين على الشارع العام المطل على وادي العرين، موضحين، أن غيابه يجعل المارة بمن فيهم النساء والأطفال، إلى السير بمحاذاة الطريق السريع، ما يعرضهم لخطر حوادث الدهس، خصوصاً خلال ساعات الليل.
وأشاروا إلى أن هذا المسار يمثل منفذاً مهماً للمشاة للوصول إلى أحياء جنوب المحافظة، مطالبين بتوفير رصيف آمن يضمن سلامة العابرين، بالتزامن مع معالجة الطرق المتهالكة وإعادة سفلتتها، بما يحسن السلامة المرورية ويرتقي بمستوى البنية التحتية في المحافظة.
The residents of Dhahran Al-Janub province have called on the relevant authorities to resurface the main and secondary streets and rehabilitate the dilapidated roads, confirming that many of them have suffered for many years from cracks, fissures, and potholes that hinder vehicle movement and cause repeated damage, especially at the entrance of the southern hospital neighborhood, which serves the residents, hospital visitors, and ambulances.
The residents explained to “Okaz” that the deterioration of the asphalt layer increases the danger of the roads during rainfall, as the potholes turn into water pools that obstruct drivers’ visibility and increase the likelihood of vehicle damage. They are demanding that the concerned authorities visit the affected sites in person, address the potholes and cracks, and rehabilitate the roads in a manner that aligns with traffic density and their importance.
The hospital entrance
Khalid Saleh Mashouf stated that the southern road to the hospital neighborhood is a vital entrance for residents and ambulances transporting the injured and patients to the provincial hospital, noting that hundreds of vehicles pass through it daily, while its asphalt layer has become weak and dilapidated, requiring resurfacing and comprehensive treatment for the potholes and cracks.
He called for immediate intervention and the rehabilitation of the road in accordance with its importance and the volume of traffic on it, especially since it serves the neighborhood’s residents and connects it to other residential areas and government departments.
For his part, Mohammed Saleh Al-Suhami expressed his astonishment at the condition of the road, especially at the neighborhood entrance, explaining that the asphalt layer has turned into potholes and cracks that obstruct vehicle movement, making driving on it feel like traversing a rough road, despite it being a paved road.
Dilapidated international road
In a related context, Awad Ali Hajraf called on the relevant authorities, whether the Roads Administration in the Asir region or the municipality of the province, to quickly resurface the main road that connects Dhahran Al-Janub to the Najran region, pointing out that its dilapidation poses a danger to its users, especially the trucks and transport vehicles that cross it alongside a large number of vehicles daily.
He confirmed that the asphalt layer can no longer withstand the volume of traffic on the road, demanding its rehabilitation to ensure the safety of passersby and protect vehicles.
For his part, Awad Farhan Al-Wad’i pointed to the strategic importance of the location of Dhahran Al-Janub, which connects the Asir and Najran regions, and the continuous traffic movement on its roads, emphasizing the importance of monitoring projects and closely supervising the implementation stages by the overseeing authorities to ensure the quality of the work and avoid execution defects that could lead to road deterioration.
A missing sidewalk threatens pedestrians
The residents’ demands were not limited to resurfacing; they also called for the reconstruction of the sidewalk that was removed east of the teachers’ neighborhood on the main street overlooking Wadi Al-Areen, explaining that its absence forces pedestrians, including women and children, to walk alongside the highway, exposing them to the risk of being hit by vehicles, especially during nighttime.
They pointed out that this path represents an important outlet for pedestrians to reach the southern neighborhoods of the province, demanding the provision of a safe sidewalk that ensures the safety of passersby, alongside addressing the dilapidated roads and resurfacing them, which would improve traffic safety and elevate the level of infrastructure in the province.
